What do you think the most important skill is for new grads today? When I graduated it felt like being able to speak well was the most important skill. I don’t even mean present well, just being able to talk to another person in a professional setting.

During grad school the focus was networking and presentations

Which are helpful but to land a position being able to make idle chat and be “human” is pretty high up on the list I think

I would say being able to communicate well counts for a lot. Let's assume technical knowledge is a given, that's the baseline. So a young person wants to differentiate themselves from everyone else. If you can speak with some clarity and be personable that's a definite plus. Giving some indication that you can work in a team and get along with people matters, companies don't have much patience for lone wolves, no matter how brilliant they may be.

The ability to solve problems without being told the answer. This seems to be a really underrated skill for a lot of new graduates who are used to generative AI just giving them all the answers. Learning how to research and solve problems and figure things out is an incredibly important skill.

Soft skills are probably equally as important, if not more important than technical skills. Technical skills can be learned on the job, but if you can’t speak well and communicate information well then first impressions are tainted. You can absolutely improve soft skills but I think your baseline needs to at least be considered decent

Hi, I had finished my technical and managerial round on May 25th and 26th with PWC. The manager did mention that there would be another in-person round in the PWC Bangalore office. Although the first 2 rounds went well, there has been no further response from HR. Is this a normal delay or should I think I didn't make it. Any thoughts?

I'm an engineer, and I feel like my manager is more of a friend than anything else. We talk about our personal lives, and I feel like it's hard to be completely honest with her when she's so casual with me. I'll tell you what it is: referencing!

You have to do so much of it, and it's so annoying. You have to cite your sources, but there are so many different formats for citations! And then sometimes you don't even know how to cite something, and how are you supposed to know that unless you ask someone who knows? And even then, they might not be sure whether it should be an in-text citation or a footnote…
