What do your finance setup look like after marriage? Do you keep individual, joint accounts, a combination? How do you allocate your income to different accounts/ priorities?

We had separate finances due to operating in different countries. I’ve now fully relocated to where he lives and it’s time we have these conversations but curious what other women are doing with their partners!

I've been married for almost 20 years, and we keep our finances separate with the exception of one joint account from which we pay our mortgage. All of our other bills are divvied up and paid from our individual accounts. I can tell you that we've rarely ever had an argument about money, and I truly believe that it's because of this setup. I have my money and he has his, and because everything is separate, neither of us can really question what the other is spending, etc. This works for us especially because we have different spending habits. My husband tends to be on the frugal side, and I know he'd probably raise an eyebrow at a purchase I make here or there. I'm not a big spender, by any means, and I'd never make a huge purchase without discussing it with him first, but I do tend to be more liberal with my money. This way he doesn't stress about my spending and I don't have to deal with him questioning stuff. Again, it's an arrangement that works for us. To each their own.

My husband and I have done the same thing for the same reasons you stated. I also think it has worked well for us because we individually are responsible with money and can trust each other to stay in control of our own finances.

Any other strategists have their spouse, lover, partner tell you “you just like to argue” ?

My view is while I like to debate I don’t like to argue (the later being infused with negative emotion/pain)

Ya’ll have similar struggles?

Getting reaaal tired of pressure from family to get married and have kids when I have enough to worry about at work. I feel like in 2022 we shouldn't have to deal with this. crap. I don't get a party for getting a promotion but when someone in the family has their 5th kid it's all anyone can talk about.

Men, how do you make yourself feel sexy and successful?

I feel like, I've dependend on my partners to validate me in those ways. But that makes me insecure & dependent on them. They loved me but idk if they "wanted/desired" me.

To feel sexy, I'm working on losing weight and then building muscle, but that'll take time and fade away with age anyway.

To feel successful, I mean... I have an OK career and savings, but I just don't identify either as success.

Maybe, I just want to feel desired.

I am generally uncomfortable when I’m around my mother-in-law’s husband.

While he is overall a decent guy, his anger issues, yelling at his wife for the slightest issue, and insulting nature makes me uncomfortable and triggers my own anger due to his blatant disrespect for just about everyone around him.

My mother-in-law says he’s worked on things, but it’s been 10 years of this and I’m not sure I want such behavior around my wife and our kids since we’re trying to conceive soon (cont).

Hi Fishes/Seniors,
This will be the first time I will be in tax slab.
I have few queries can anyone please help me regarding this.
In ELSS mutual the total we can save save tax is 1.5lakh. Do we need to invest yearly 1.5 lakh yearly to save tax? I am planning to have a Sip of 5000 monthly for 3 years. So total money invested in 3 years will be around 60000 * 3 = 180000.
Will that be sufficient to save tax or Do I need to have a sip of 12000 per month to save tax.
