L6 in Amazon is a big range. It's a post MBA role at the lower end of the spectrum and a Sr.Mgr. role at the other end (I am from Seattle and know people on either ends, all L6).

If you are an MBA with no or little experience, you start at higher end of L5, eventually getting promoted to L6, if perform.

L7 is more of a seasoned Sr. Mgr with crazy technical track or new MD/Partner with impressive business expansion track record.

Yes D2. Responsibility and pay both in fact.
Pay would be higher at MBB anyway.

It is difficult to say. I am a L6 Cloud Infrastructure Architect. I could be promoted to Senior CIA and still be level 6. Ultimately the level and title aren’t as important as the fit of the role, the compensation and the ability to meet your objectives as it relates to the leadership principles. I will say that it seems to be very difficult to jump from L6 to L7.

Equivalent in terms or salary? I think L6 can expect 200ish and more, so yes Sr manager

I believe it tips out at 160k for base with Amazon

A recruiter reached out with a couple of roles at Amazon, they are all L6 level. The recruiter tried to explain to me that these roles were equivalent to a Snr Manager or even Director level in Consulting. 🤔🤔

I’m in-house at a small company (60 people), started right out of law school about 5 years ago. We had a legal team of 5 then. Everyone has left and we just hired a new GC. I am expecting an offer from a firm doing business law work but think this might be an opportunity to go to my current employer and ask for a significant raise, with new offer in hand.
