I worked in this for a couple years. I think it’s a nice mix of strategy and commercial. Like AD1 said, you’re working on things a couple years from launch. Understanding the market, doing some planning etc. Hours are pretty good, should be less intense than project based BD. I do think you’ll deal with a lot less of the corporate greed that you can encounter in BD. However, no role is perfect. DM if you have specific questions.
Have a PhD, 3 yrs of strategy consulting and currently a director in BD at a mid sized pharma. Seen a lot learned a ton but it also turned me off a bit seeing how corporate and individual greed drive a lot of this. So wanting to pivot to a role that could feel more meaningful and better WLB so as to not burn out.
Don’t have first hand knowledge but familiar how the functions are structured in past company. In short, NPP was closer (1-2 years out) to launch and region specific. Hours seemed relatively normal but may pulled in by a deal for consult from time to time. Feel free to dm.
