Do you lose maternity benefits if you make partner? I’m up for partnership this year and my firm doesn’t know I’m trying to get pregnant. I’ve heard people say in the past they lost all of their accrued vacation when they became partners because they are no longer employees. Do partners get paid maternity leave where you are? Would I be entitled to FMLA protection? I’m our breadwinner so losing 24 weeks of paid leave (mat+accrued vacation) would be a big hit.

Had multiple negative rapid tests and an initial negative PCR tests last week. I’d advise Deloitte, PWC, and KPMG folks to let EY stand alone on this one! None of us asked for this and they are doing it primarily to reduce PTO accrual liability for layoffs/in states where employers are limited in taking away earned PTO

I had multiple mediations recently. I do management side employment law. Overall I’m walking away feeling like what the heck are we paying the mediators for? I’m tired of the mediators saying they don’t want to hear about the merits of the case. The merits are DIRECTLY tied to the amount of settlement authority I have. I feel like our clients are getting worked way more than the plaintiffs side. Also plaintiffs have followed up every single settlement with “can we get the funds before holiday?”

The owners of our company like to do a holiday handout at Thanksgiving each year. They used to do a whole Thanksgiving meal (turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, pie). Last year there was a lack of available turkeys in the quantity we needed, so we switched it up and did a bottle of sparkling cider with a $25 gift card. Ok, after an HR screening (and salary requirements) I had 3 interviews. Then HR calls for references and to be “reminded” of salary requirements. All 3 references now contacted. Will I get an offer?
