Variable pay tends to be ranging between 5% to as much as 20% — depends upon your performance, years with the firm, etc. if you are a new joiner, yeh default rating would be 3, which would mean an annual increment for 7-10% (in a good year) on a proportionate basis. For you it would be 1/3rd of that as you joined in Dec. the bonus will also be 1/3rd of your eligibility based on rating. Good part is there’s increment and bonus every year. Hikes are paid out in May end with effect from April (so May salary would include April arrears) and bonuses are paid out in June. Since the last 2 years PwC is splitting the bonus and paying 2/3rd on June 01 and balance on Nov 01. Hope this answers most of your doubts. Regards!!
The annual hike shouldn't be pro rated. I understand that bonus can be prorated, which is logical. But I haven't seen organizations give hike in proportion as well.
