Seems like east vs west coast has a big impact. Titles seem to be inflated for east coast hqed companies so director has lower yoe and salary.

But with that caveat my starting salary as a director was $200k, 25% bonus, $110k equity per year, at a company just outside the top 10. I work in a quantitative function, not sales or marketing.

@BCG. We don't have a true strategy function it is surprising but Development does all the strategy.

I am in commercial and get paid more than non quantitative support functions. The line functions like marketing pay is similar but have more advancement potential.

I salaries are higher in commercial so I would expect less if it were managing clinical trial or research data. I missed that part of the question.

I am on the west coast but not the bay area.
