What's a normal % for an annual raise? We all got a 2-3% raise and the excuse that the economy is rough so we should be grateful we got anything. It doesn't even cover the COL increase.

2-3% has become the norm, unfortunately. Or no raise at all.

2-3% is inflation, maybe even less than that. But it’s standard. 5% plus is great nowadays

I have generally gotten 2-3% unless I was promoted that year, but even then, it was only 6%. We didn't even get raises this past year because of the "economy" so trust me, I get it.

Some companies don't have automatic raises at all, some are across the board set amounts and some are merit based. 2-3% is most typical. Even in times of higher than average inflation, those usually stay the same. The company is managing their bottom line, not trying to keep talent with the raises. The best way to make more is to job shift every 5 to 8 years until you max out in the title you have and then get your raises from there.

0% annual raise has been the norm my entire career.

2 to 3% is definitely good nowadays sadly. I know many people who get 0. Tough times out there

You guys get a raise!?! Wow.

2-3% is pretty average.

There really is no normal. Every company and industry has a different pay culture and respect for the Marketing function. Two key things to look for: 1) Can Marketing prove its results are tied to revenue and/or pipeline; and 2) supportive leadership that advocates for Marketing as more than a support function, but a performance and brand force.

Personally, I've seen below-cost-of-living increases (like 2%), and even 0% raises because the emphasis was on bonuses and stock payouts tied to company performance.

Out of curiosity. How would a company view a potential candidate who has a period of unemployment to study for the CPA. I am considering to start studying for the exam but I know I would need to leave my employer in order to give 110%. I am contemplating the idea of at least passing one part while employed. Then leaving my employer to study FAR. I am considering to leave my current employer anyways, so it’s more of how my future employer would view that lapse.
