5 years is a ridiculous amount of time to be fully vested!
@PwC2 it's cute you think the majority of us are allowed to bill more than 40 hours per week
Only some % of it. I think it's 20% if you stay 2 years , 40% for 3 years, 60% for 4 years and 100% after 5. The same is also applicable for your wealth builder plan
Not worth staying just for that. But wow that is pretty shitty of PWC.
Ok thanks. Now I'm wondering if it's worth staying for 5 years or bite the bullet and move on. How long you have been here p1
It's also not five calendar years - it's based on billable hours. So you'll likely hit full vesting around 4 yrs or so
How many billable hours?
Yes its billable hours...but they don't get carried over to the next year. Typically you could be fully vested in 4.5 years
At OP. I am 4 years in...will stay on till I am fully vested. Quitting now would mean leaving 40% of the 401k emp contribution and wealth builder plan.....which roughly equates to $15K to $20K....not a big amount if you have a great offer elsewhere. Typically you can negotiate and make it up
I'm actually pretty sure 401k vests within the same year but wealth builder is on the 5 year vesting schedule
What exactly is the wealth builder? Another 401k type of account? Can you cash it in at any particular time? Was thinking of cashing in at 5 years to put toward a down payment.
You can also ask wherever you are going to add what would vest to your signing bonus, salary or equity. Make sure to bring it up in salary negotiations
