Best comp structure I had was a solid base plus uncapped commission with accelerators, so once you hit quota, you earn more per sale. It rewarded consistency and hustle. If you need a calculator to understand it, run.
Honestly, a 50/50 base to commission split with uncapped earnings was the sweet spot for me. I always felt like I had enough stability to focus and enough upside to push hard. The key was clear metrics—no moving targets or “manager discretion” nonsense. Simplicity kept me motivated.

I don’t mind having a higher split in favor of commission, but really do need transparent metrics. That really goes for any comp structure. If doing well one month or quarter means unattainable expectations the next, my motivation ceases to exist. Keeping it simple is all I’m really looking for now.
