The inefficiency masquerading as efficiency. If you can’t run a team remotely, you definitely can’t run one in person.
I do like going into the office personally , but the best part of being remote during Covid was watching everyone come to the realization that many weak employees were skating by on presence.
It is such a tell when someone acts like those who are remote are not working. It’s either they’re that out of touch with reality or super insecure and use their presence as proof of worth.
"office culture" is my ick. let me do my work, give me money, i'll be polite, professional and respectful, but i do not want anything to do with anyone if it is not work related.
Why are people in the office still? It’s 2025 homies

Anything when it's inauthentic. My current office has great company culture. People genuinely like each other and initiatives seem like things people want to do. At one of my last jobs, it seemed like one of the Execs was basically monitoring social media for the latest Tik Tok trend or whatever and demanding the office jump on it as soon as possible. ICK.
My "ick moments":
1. Coming to the office. It's toxic
2. The quiet quitting of the agency's ELT towards the staff (removal of parties, happy hours, anything to say thanks) but being required to be in 3 days a week
3. Termination of staff and then shock from ELT that we couldn't pull the work through
4. ELT thinking bagels twice a month is MORE than enough to keep a team happy
I got more but have to start my "ick" day.
Everyone saying they want to move to the marketing team because we have good culture as a group. But they don’t realize how hard we work and how often we get f’ed by the sales team. We’re basically all trauma bonded together.
Weekend talk after I just worked another weekend.
Pollyannas and overly enthusiastic people.
Narcissists who stroke all the right egos while running off the rest of the team.
Any and all team building “fun”, birthday cupcakes, happy hours… forced socialization with a class of people who would have shined in the Milgram experiments.
Pro
At one of my old agencies, we were forced to participate in every idiotic social media trend that came down the pike. Lots of smiles and "fun!" Meanwhile everyone hated each other...
Everything you have listed are pet hates. Enforced fun office culture/events, being asked to take photos of the enforced fun events. The images are used on social media to give the impression that it is a great place to work. And the "hi" thing drives me mad. I rarely respond, and when I do I just say "how can I help you?", because invariably that person needs me to do something. Why not just cut to the chase?
Managers that think effectively managing is just delegating everything that comes across their desk. I’m not sure how these people slip by and are seen as valuable to their teams. 😒

Agree with the second part, OP. People who message "hi" or "Hey" without any other context and expect a reply are the worst
