Hello All, I have one question. I was a fresher and joined one organization as external employee with third party payroll. I worked as external payroll for 1 year then I became permanent employee of organization was working. When i was a fresher my salary was below tax slab so my external exployer did not generate any form 16 for me. When tried to switch my new organization wants me to submit form 16 as BGC process. No, you need to negotiate before, self-promote before, advocate for yourself before. By the time the org has gone through the process of figuring out what to give you, their salary budget is already allocated across the whole team.

I'm shocked at the answers. Yes you should always negotiate your pay if it involves change in responsibilities. Getting a raise for doing a good job isn't the same as being promoted to a higher position which automatically means you should inquire and try to negotiate the pay increase. I've always negotiated my salary increase for a promotion. It's not smart not to at least try.
@CD1 yeah that specific example is pretty bad - I've seen a spectrum as well because humans but outside of that, always know and negotiate your worth.

When salary increases are approved in a big batch by the holding company and share with you after they’ve been approved. Wondering if there’s actually the potential for wiggle room. I suspect they’d just say, “this is what’s been approved by HQ” and you’d have to find an offer for them to counter to get anything else. Am I wrong?
