I ask myself that every single day 🥲
Like functionally it wouldn’t be so bad, but urgency + the lack of basic common sense I witness on a day to day basis is mind boggling…
It’s cute when they puff their chest and say “I do business” but don’t understand fundamental concepts. How can I help you if you aren’t able to explain to me basic business inputs that inform negotiation? Or you consistently mess things up which causes me to move slower?
But yes please have this done yesterday
😑

You went from regulatory to commercial? Lol that's kind of on you then

Ugh sorry to hear that but yes... That's exactly why I steer clear of any commercial counsel roles... Sales teams universally seem to suck

“Can’t we just use the customer’s terms?”
Why did we offer them a money back satisfaction guarantee, a 10 year price lock, MFN pricing, and free services? Please forward me the approvals. Oh there are none? Then why are we offering these? You say you didn’t offer them those perks? I’m confused…because those are in their template you’re asking us to use…
“But these are terms if we want to do business there!” Ok, in that case, how about no?
I always end up asking them if they would ask to be so flexible if customer wanted a high discount in their contract. Always get the no no no. They don't care about anything except their cut.

Gross... Whyd you sign up for commercial counsel?

It’s the business’s fault for not utilizing deal scores and the like. If commissions aren’t contingent on terms, Sales ain’t going to care about liabilities .
