I worked up until the day I delivered for both of my pregnancies so I could spend all my leave with my babies.
Same, delivered full term twins on a Saturday and worked the full day the Friday before.
What state are you in? The state of California disability program provides 4 weeks before due date I believe.
What happens if baby is late and there are some days between the month off and the date baby is born?
Check your company policy. Many places give you a couple weeks before.
Crazy how in most of the world, women stop working the last couple months of pregnancy and start their leave. I cannot imagine working until the day of giving birth
What does your company policy provide? We were allowed to take 2 weeks before due date as start of our leave.
I had to wait until labor, because I only got 6 weeks through STD. Definitely check your policy. If it allows, a week or 2 before would be wonderful to prep and have some time prior to an entire life shift.
I was allowed to take 2 weeks prior to my delivery due date for maternity leave (and I needed that). It was a use it or loose it type of thing.
Why do you need time before? Save it for after. I worked the morning before my scheduled c section in the afternoon.
That’s not a flex. I’ve worked at RSM and you could have 100% taken PTO before birth. Why do you think countries that have required leave have women start it at 7 months pregnant?
Lots of people are in pain or just having a hard time functioning at the end. Maybe she wants to prep a few things before birth.
And lots of firms do offer time before. I knew people at RSM who used PTO for two weeks before their due date.
Armanino is pretty flexible and a California based company. Max out all the time you can.
CA by law allows for the following:
1. Short term disability 4 weeks before your due date (paid time off by the state if you meet the requirements).
2. After your baby is born you get 6 weeks of paid short term disability for a normal delivery. 8 weeks of paid short term disability if you have a c-section.
3. After your 6 - 8 weeks of short term disability, you get paid baby bonding leave through the state which is another 3 - 4 months paid by the state.
The state the doesn’t cover your full salary but in by experience it’s been 75% - 80% of your salary is paid.
