Hi All, My sister has done Computer Science engineering Bachelor degree and has 5 years of work experience in India. She is applying for MBA at https://www.kenan-flagler.unc.edu/programs/mba/full-time-mba/ and https://kelley.iu.edu/programs/full-time-mba/academics/majors-minors/marketing.html. Her overall goal is to get into Software Product management. Any suggestions if any of these MBA’s can open path in the desired space or if she is better of doing an MS in Comp engg. to further develop deeper Technology skills. Thanks
Scrum Master Certification question:
Out of these certifications:
1. CSM
2. PSM
3. DASSM
Which one teaches you the most/preps/gives you the qualifications you need the most for getting into big tech companies? I’m mainly wondering about the reputation of each certifications and how they compare to each other.
Do any of these certifications help when transitioning into Product Manager role in the future?
Lastly, what are the pros/cons of being a Program vs Product Mngr in re: TC, Rep, etc.?Google Amazon Microsoft

I’m about to start an internship at IBM for UX Research. I’m super excited about it, and was wondering if anyone could tell me about the design culture there or how the company is for designers? So far online I’ve only heard about the company from consultants or software engineers. For more reference I’ll be working in Austin.

Well, there are a lot of different career paths from business analyst. What was your initial focus when you pursued your business degree?
Project management route: Project coordinator to project management to program/portfolio management to strategic management
Product management: Business analyst to product manager > product manager senior
Are you into data analytics?
Coding and engineering route
Have you seen any senior type roles that you are interested in? That is kinda where I found project management. Right now I’m doing that for “next step” in my career.
I originally got into business analysis because I liked the idea of management consulting and learned business analysis is a route to that but now I’m in a tech company and it’s not really the right industry.
I’ve really been considering project management lately, definitely sounds interesting and I think I’d like it but again I’m unsure how to get into that. What would you suggest are the in between steps from business analyst to project coordinator?

Maybe start with being open and objective? If you want advice, you need to to be open to taking it - regardless of what your biased surface evaluation is. Process it, learn from it, apply it. If you act like you have all the answers, then no one will want to help you out so you will always receive generic advice.
Thank you for your response

What was the driving force behind a business degree? Was it solely to go into business analysis?
Yeah had some modules on entrepreneurship alright. Not sure I’m there yet though. I feel like I need some experience before I start out on my own. I wouldn’t know what business to start either 😂
