Great question! Also curious about this.
If you’re not in the loop, you’re in the burbs. I will die on this hill.
Montrose, Greenway/Upper Kirby, Rice Village, The Heights, Galleria. You can pretty much live anywhere lol just depends on what’s convenient for your lifestyle
Yeah I live in Eado and it’s great
Try to get as close to Texas Southern University as possible, that's where the action is.
@President 1 since whomever couldn’t respond, it’s clear what their intentions were with the racist innuendo. What a sad case of a person. Plus the fact that others thought this was funny even shows the level of intelligence.
It becomes a question of income/cashflow. Without a dual income household, and no roommates, then where can you afford to live on your income? You need extra backup/savings in case anything were ever to happen to your income - hurt/sick, lost job, merger, etc.
After that it’s wherever makes you happy out of the remaining choices. And are you buying as part of your lifetime investment strategy or renting. If buying, you’re looking at flood maps, crime stats, school districts (even if irrelevant to you), all to catch up and coming places where you’ll get the most value gain or most security from a downturn.
So then lifestyle and what’s important to you? Do you want a yard? A pool? Lots of SF? Walkable? What amenities do you want close access to? What people do you want as your community?
All this stuff narrows it down to maybe a couple areas, and maybe there’s a couple choices to pick from in those areas.
This is great thank you so much! I need to do this soul searching!
We live in Sawyer Heights area and absolutely love it. More affordable than other areas and neighborhood amenities are steadily growing. 38, no kids, 2 dogs
Sawyer heights is expensive af
The heights in Houston. But honestly, not Houston, more like NYC or SF. Yolo
You’re always welcome to join!
I’m pretty close to that profile and did a ton of searching a couple of weeks ago. I ended up selecting an apartment in the heights!!
That's me! I live in Midtown and It's getting expensive. In 2 months It's going to be $1600. But in a 15 min city mostly It's walking distance.
I pay way more than that now
Pro
Sounds like a downtown profile
Honestly try energy corridor its cheaper than inside the loop not miles away from the city or spring branch
Do you want to get drunk, go to museums , be secure, have space, live music, budget, etc.
career driven could live in the office just as easily. More context is needed
I am at the point where I’d like to buy in Houston but not so far out of downtown since I can’t really afford the hustle and bustle of downtown nor do I want to be in the hustle and bustle of downtown anymore.
I would recommend Montrose. Close to downtown, walkable, close to museums, and has some heritage/personality that has been stripped from many other areas. It is considered diverse and has a big artist, musician, student, and lgbt community.
Location is great. Just be sure to save yourself some money and cancel your Prime membership. You’ll never see your packages unless you have multiple cameras and work from home. Also be sure to have comfortable patio furniture and a nice blanket for the inevitable “visitors” that will make camp on your front porch.
Heights
I would say inside the loop or anywhere close to the city. I live in The Woodlands it’s nice but mostly rich family and it’s boring. It works out for me tho I usually just stay in and watch TLC 90 days
Direct messaged you!
Heights for sure
Midtown
I don't think I would necessarily want to live in Midtown if I was 33.
Heights!
You want Montrose if you like a more vibrant urban life, or The Heights if you like that suburb in the city feel. One things for sure, if you want to avoid traffic live in the center and commute out. do not do the opposite 😔
Same here - I'm in Montrose and I love it. I've lived here for 10 years.
