Hi all, recently in touch by Spotify recruiter for a Sec Engineer position for remote EU and was told that range was 60-80 out of base salary and equity. Had 2 years of security experience out of my 4 years. Was also told that there is no bonus scheme or no sign in bonus 😕 Not sure how I feel about this tbh.
What do you think?

So I recently applied for a position as a training specialist, but I feel like I’m more than qualified to look for other roles. For your rent restriction, you’ll be able to get an older one bedroom. Most updated one bedrooms with more amenities START at 2500. Location wise, mid-city/miracle mile, westwood, culver city would be good options.

I’d live in echo park or highland park. A lot cheaper than the west side or mid city, super close to downtown, a long commute to Beverly Hills but doable on the occasion you need to go, lots of outdoor space, fun young hip vibe with lots of bars and restaurants.
Why live in La then? Extremely high taxes, high cost of living
It’s fairly cheap compared to NYC (currently in a $3.5K/month 1 bedroom that’s not super luxurious).
Also, for networking/connecting with founders and investors. I could live in random cheap suburbs, but I’d be extremely bored with no friends.
I recommend Westwood area. Walkable, nice, not a bad commute if you have to go in.
If you don’t need in-unit laundry, you’ll have a lot more options. Just FYI.

Additional context: moving from Manhattan. Budget-wise I can comfortably spend more if I need to, but rather spend <2,500 to budget for a car and savings. No set office location yet (startup), but founders are around Beverly Hills.

1. That’s super vague Mr. Vice President. Where is HQ?
2. $2500 is decent for a 1B, but won’t get you anything particularly nice.
3. Peruse this forum, renting recs are basically a daily topic.
Slightly depends where you are in the valley as to whether it’s too far, and how much commute you’d be willing to take
My commute to century city is 25-35m (pending traffic), and I go through beverly hills to get there. So Beverly hills would probably be a sub 30 commute for me, and more like 20 at the right time of day
Working remotely in LA for 3 months, live in Manhattan. I have always liked the West side, I come to LA to be near the ocean. I’ve stayed in Santa Monica, now in Brentwood. I like both. Don’t have a car, I like to walk and bike to places. But I want to go out of a 5 mile radius, I spend $ on an Uber. I’m here temporarily, so it works
