I recently had an initial interview for a technical recruiter position. The guy on the phone stated that this is not a 9-5 job and long hours are expected. I proceed to ask how much PTO is offered and he said that is not recommend within the first 6 months of working and the harder you work the more PTO you receive. From that conversation, I saw instant red flags. Any thoughts?

Considering leaving to take a partner position at a small firm. Is it worth it? Would only be 2 partners with a staff of 10. Comp would be 250k on the low end and probably top out around 350k. Would take 3-4 years to get to this level of comp as would be buying 10% per year up to 40% of the firm. Am I stupid for not taking this? Currently manager making 125k. Comp first year as junior partner would be 120k with 10% ownership.

I have a tax LLM and started my career out of law school doing M&A tax at a big4. After 9 months, I got out of big4 transactional hell and into whatever litigation I could find. I now practice commercial lit but would welcome the opportunity to eventually transition into tax controversy (which I wasn’t able to do before). Hey Fishes I have completed close to 4.5 years in EY under the Tax Operation team specialized in resource management. I am getting only 7.5lpa inspite of getting "Strategic Impact" which is the highest reward category. I was supposed to get a skip level promotion which the HR had rejected for some reason.
