Bain & Company Fishes, I wonder if you have suggestion on office selection, I am finishing my dual degree(advanced degree and applying for post MBA level job) next year and now applying for consulting roles in the states. I have never been to the states and will only arrive on campus in Fall. I am keen on Seattle and SF offices but I have no affiliation or experience there. Any suggestions? Deloitte Over KPMG

It’s pretty difficult to switch to commercial for most folks. Just something to consider if you go to GPS

My concern is being pigeonholed into federal work and not being able to switch to commercial after learning Deloitte. I’m currently an analyst at AFS and going to KPMG would mean making a lateral move and no pay increase while going to Deloitte would mean a level up + a pay increase. I’ve had success getting interviews at FAANG + big tech even with my federal consulting background but I’m afraid that going to GPS will make it more difficult to do that again in the future or land other commercial consulting roles. I’m also very unhappy at AFS so I would like to leave ASAP. I’ve been applying and interviewing for months and these are the only offers I’ve gotten.
C1, for most, working on commercial projects isn’t impossible, but the actual transfer is next to impossible. It happens, but it is 5x easier to leave for commercial consulting than to transfer.

If you want technical work, a decent variety of clients and teams, I’d go to KPMG commercial
I switched from Deloitte GPS to KPMG commercial
Work on cooler projects and clients, get paid dramatically more, and work less.
Not everyone’s situation, but I have no regrets making the move and have seen MANY GPS people here from Deloitte
Came from Deloitte too- this statement is all too true. Interesting work and able to set boundaries.
D better name but seems like way worse of any place in terms of wlb, so I’d steer clear
That do sound nice D3…every M/SM I see just works 7-7. Not sure I get paid enough for those hours :)

Deloitte. Even if you’re more passionate about commercial work you can switch to that side of D via networking. Also, commercial exit opps are still open to GPS people
I just left D GPS TO EY commercial
Commercial, higher pay long run and you can always choose to go into Fed if you want. Much harder to go the other way. Also more exit opportunities
