Why are there so many posts about salary and bonus? Does it make you feel better if you make more or your firm's bonuses are higher?

No, I think it's very helpful to help us learn if we are getting paid fairly and not slaving to death with a lower than market average salary and bonus. This platform is actually perfect for that as we are all anonymous...

OP must be one of these Millennials who's "above" money. Thanks for voting for Bernie and taking away what I've worked my ass off for.

"Does it make you feel better if you make more?" Yes. I'm not doing this all for shits and giggles

Yea, I didn't know I was below market pay until this app

Yes.

@OP non transparency of salaries is a tool that management uses to keep wages down - by having clear transparency by level and function - wage discrepancies are erased and therefore issues like wage gaps based on gender and race are eliminated.

Agreed pwc it puts some more of the negotiating power back into our hands

But if you're getting a fair market value, you can prioritize your efforts toward other things that aren't external offers.

Dude. Nothing wrong with money. Say it with me, there is nothing wrong with money. You cannot pay rent with excuses nor can you pay it with humbleness. Last I checked your phone with which you're using to respond ain't free either. Miss me with all that nonsensical bullshit.....

Thought I read every post and I haven't seen any posts comparing firm bonus size.....?

OP I'd like to hear your response to all the comments here that I up voted. Did you really just miss the point entirely and now you get it? If so, you are forgiven.

It's good to know your market value but in reality it is not directly correlated to what others make. Unless you have an offer in hand, it won't help you to know that someone makes x% more than you.

We need more transparency in the industry. That is all. We are on the same boat, people!!

like

We do if we're the same level with the same experience...sometimes ppl don't know what they're worth, and when they find out they've screwed themselves, they'll get the salary they deserve somewhere else.

Sucks when u low ball urself...wish recruiters were more open about salaries

@D3 - I'm Gen X. Transparency in salaries creates a sense of entitlement that millennials have grown accustomed. Just because someone else earns $X doesn't mean you deserve the same.

@A2 Are you suggesting we move towards communism? Everyone works and gets paid the same.

I was recently offered a clinic manager position at physiotherapy clinic I work at. I tried to negotiate a fair wage (they were only offering 37K salary for full time position as CLINIC MANAGER!!). Apparently that’s the starting for any clinic manager but I feel like that’s really getting low balled. Obviously I declined the offer as it’s barely a living wage to support my family and it’s 50 cents more than my current wage so it doesn’t make a big difference. Any CM’s out there to compare with?
