Hi everyone, not sure if I have any options but figured it doesn’t hurt to ask. I signed a lease in June for $2050 when I was under the impression it wouldn’t get lower than that. The same apartment is now down $1650 and has been dropping. this is super frustrating since it’s such a dramatic drop. It’s almost more cost effective to break the lease for $4k in order to save $4500 over 12 months - $500 in total savings + cheaper if I renew next year. Do I have any negotiation power? The value is now over 400K and I have an equity of over 150K. We are thinking of moving to a different state.Should we rent this place ($2400/month) and with recent refinance my mortgage will be $1600/month(inclu pay all) or sell it to pull out equity for the new home in a different state? FYI: we have over 100K in cash to down payment.

1. Buy a ~8-850k house that meets most of our ideal criteria (size, schools, interiors etc) to stay long term

2. Buy a ~5-550k house that’s not ideal with the plan of moving into an ideal home in 4-5 years when kid is ready for school.
