McKinsey & Company How likely is McKinsey to rescind an offer if there's a recession/downturn before my start date? Received an Associate offer with a start date early in the Fall. But I'm worried about the offer being rescinded due to the ongoing McK scandals/issues and a potential recession in the making (which may prompt them to freeze hiring and/or renege offers).
Has this happened to anyone before at McKinsey, offer getting rescinded due to economic/company downturn? A bit worried

OPT is tricky. Yes you might add to the company value and bottom line. But after 3 years if you stay with the same company you will feel that the company owes you something I.E. green card sponsorship or other work permits. This costs an employer money. Also the employer shouldn't feel obligated to owe anything as you don't owe the employer anything. There are federal employment laws in place that can be audited. For example what would make you a better fit for the the job than someone else who is citizen or permanent resident? Do you consider yourself better than someone local? Applying for a job is a numbers game on OPT the odd of winning is less than for local. But that just means you have to work harder than someone else.
Unfortunately, most of it comes down to efficiency and ease. To them it seems easier and less risky to take a chance on a new employee that they don't have to potentially one day sponsor, rather than the opposite. It isn't really fair, and I feel like they probably miss out on good candidates because of it. Frankly it seems like its just the way it is/works, as much as that sucks.
Sometimes it is not that they don't want you, but they know that it can be challenging to get you a work visa. It is not up to the company but the number of visas available each year. Don't get discouraged; it will come! Just keep applying and networking!

The whole point of the system is to put citizens at the front and everyone else behind them. Almost every country does this. You need to be in a field where there aren’t enough citizens to fill the need
Yes. most companies. I think it has really nothing to do with your credentials. The company just takes into consideration the possibilities in the future like the possible challenges. But don't let it discourage you.
