I’ve done tax, audit and advisory - in that order - and advisory is by far the most rewarding. I get to help my clients by giving them something they want and have sought out instead of irritating them with something that they have to do. It’s still a demanding career but it’s much more satisfying.
More money, better hours, and more interesting and rewarding work. Certainly worked out in terms of better comp and more interesting work, but I wish I had been better at setting boundaries early on because advisory can still have pretty poor WLB. I’m three years in and I think I’m ready to leave client service altogether at this point.
Thank you for sharing!
Money and challenging work. Yes, but the hours and stress have me looking elsewhere. But it was great learning and a good resume booster.
Where did you go after that/now?
More interesting/variety in work. The clients appreciate our work more than in audit. It was the right move for me.
Money, learning, exit opps. Like others above, it’s pretty exhausting after a while. Just waiting to make my move. No regrets

Curious KPMG1, what sorts of exits have you seen that you think are better in advisory than if Simeon just stayed in audit?
