Selected in a Big4 firm and one MNC shortlisting is going on, hopefully will be selected within 7-8 days. The MNC will be offering good package, but Big4 is just giving 20% hike in my salary and waiting for my decision to say yes or no,to proceed further with offer letter. Query :1. If I say yes to the Big4, and when they issue the offer letter, and then I reject, can they blacklist me. 2. Also if accept the offer and say no, in that case can they blacklist me from their firm.EY Deloitte KPMG PwC

First of all am not defending anyone. An HR job is not to hire for less. An HR job is to hire within a budget. When we negotiate don't we talk that way? Even when we know onion rate is 30rs per kilo we say it's just 25 in next shop or in other market etc. So HR also uses all kinds of negotiating tactics.
Let me give you a scenario where you asked 25 and she immediately said fine we will give 24 +1 lkh JB, believe me you would have felt that you asked for less and you missed a chance to get more and it's very likely that you won't join.
To satisfy people's ego HR will always say their budget is less , but since you performed so well or I had to take approval to give you more. That way you will feel you getting more than what the org can give or getting more than what others are getting.
Also an HR never decides salary for a lateral entry. It's always by Hiring Manager or COE or Project hiring. So she may have less budget but when she relayed the ask to hiring team they would have revised the budget.
So you need to understand how hiring happens before passing such comments degrading few professions. It's very strategically played.
I know you do understand the point, I was just kind of explaining of the situation why having more than 3 or 4 offers is also justified, which you're saying should be avoided. In ideal world yes it shouldn't be the case, but we are living in a world which is anything but ideal.
They are paid to save money. It is their job, so no surprises. You get what you negotiate for.
Then why they complain about candidates getting multiple offer. It’s our will to go with best. You can’t have it both way
They are setting up their KPIs. Nothing new. If HR calls you first thing you say is offer in hand if you have or expected CTC. Also ask them whats your budget?
They complain for multiple offers by candidates. Candidate complains for less salary offered without counter offer. Both are good at their part and putting best efforts. It's all happening because packages are not defined in our country, it all demand-supply game.
Just chill guys, we also need to have bargaining skills
