Been working 25 years, never had to contribute up. Have been VP, would never expect that. Company has always sent flowers/fruit/etc
I’ve worked for at least eight different companies. I really don’t recall this. I’m sure it happened once in my career, but it was nominal.
Haven’t had this happen but we throw parties and contribute to a gift when Director or above leaves. Yea let’s buy you a gift when you’re leaving to make more lol
Something about willingness to kiss ass 😘🍑
Yes, came here to say that. It's called ass licking
Wtf? Gift down the org chart.
Oh ya, that sucks. Your boss can hire someone to cook while she’s recovering. Work isn’t a family unless you’re in a very small firm. You don’t owe them your time and resources
I gave a journal to a woman one level up from me, when her father died. We work very closely and collaboratively, and it was my independent choice.
I have not seen this happen before
My org is not faith based, just really conservative and based in Texas
It’s called bullsh*t. 🫤
This sounds like a healthy dynamic 😉 Next time there's an anonymous survey or you have HR's attention in private, I would ask this question.
Coach
One problem.....this has happened in HR
It's the haves and the have-nots. My company will send a prayer request for Sales if they are in tough times....but I asked a prayer request for an inside person....not granted.
@Managing Director - people who truly pray for others often back it up with tangible acts of charity.
I once had a coworker whose apartment was destroyed, and he probably outearned me by a factor of 3. I prayed immediately in a conference room alone. I didn't know if anyone in his family was injured or worse.
When an envelope came around, I literally gave all my cash - even a $20 bill I never spend, to have on hand in case I'm robbed (some people will hurt their victim if they don't have enough money).
There was an announcement later on of the amount donated to this person. My donation was 75%+. I know what it's like to lose everything suddenly due to a natural disaster, so I just gave the best I had first, which is prayer, and then money to help with their first 24 hours.
Hm this must vary by location. I've been in management for 15 years, I'm an executive director now. Been through cancer, deaths, etc. No one I work with has ever given me a gift. An occasional card.
