Will K&E break the $10m PPEP and $10bn revenue barriers? Turns out yes to both, by a crazy margin. $11.1 million PPEP (up 20%, from $9.25m). $10.56 billion revenue (up 20%, from $8.8bn). 595 EPs now, up 3.8%. Interestingly, average NEP comp is $960k, which to me suggests most perma-NEPs must be above $1m since that figure is dragged down by a ton of 7-9th years making like $550-650k. Insane stats.

Average NEP comp isn’t $960k. It’s $782k.

Ok. Then the average NEP salary is probably not that crazy. There are perma-NEPs making over $1M. And 9th and 10th year NEPs make probably in the $700s.

Asking for wife who's also in banking. If she got ~$100k in signing bonus in 2019 for 1 year commitment in CA and started FT in July 2020, assuming she leaves before July 2021, can her employer claw back full amount in California? Some say it's much tougher to do so under CA law but wonder if anyone has any insights. Banks won't likely care about analyst signing bonuses, but associate bonus at EB with diversity bonus can be significant. If she quits before, she won't be going to another bank.

I need to get out of EY and I’ve known for a while but I’m terrified to start somewhere from scratch and not be good at it. I’ve been with EY Assurance NYC for 7 years and I was just rated “above peers” so I know I can stay here for a while but I’m pretty miserable. How did people in this position finally decide it was time to go? Any regrets or advice on how to navigate this?

I’ve been a freelance print production designer for many years, and usually on-site in the before times. Now I work remote, and am finding it uneasy dealing with billing. Before I always billed hourly, which made sense, but it’s becoming an issue now. Some companies don’t have a full days’ work, so it seems wrong to bill full days, and it allows me to juggle projects for different companies, but my billable hours are down. I know I should bill a daily rate, but not sure that will fly. Thoughts?

Former big law associate here who burned out. Now a corporate inhouse counsel.

Been recovering and considering going back to actual legal practice.

I feel I need a new practice area.

One that impacts people’s lives and is meaningful, but where you don’t have to deal with disturbing facts and personal tragedies.

Any suggestions?

I’ve made it 5+ years in a NY M&A practice and have consistent exceeding expectations reviews. I’ve had a few mental breakdowns because of work during this time, but thankfully made it through. I’ve been in a near constant depressive/anxious state for family reasons for the last year and half, and am soon having my first kid. I’m scared shitless that I’ll spiral out of control both at work and at home if something doesn’t change soon. Any suggestions on how to keep this job and keep it together?

I’ve asked for work but no luck. I know they say this is normal for a stub but when should I start getting worried and consider looking for exit options? Fyi, I like my practice group, so I don’t want to change to a different group within my firm, hence would have to lateral, if I have to. Also, other co-1st years are churning in high hours.
