Working w a very incompetent client who has no idea how to manage his own internal stakeholders, and takes it out on us (his agency) with whining and ranting. Ideas on how to tell him to do his job??

ask to assign a PM client-side. they will do all of the daily logistical grunt work for the client. most clients are willing to pay for this resource.

like

We have to write our client’s emails about governance. Offer to send them flow charts or graphics that show how all of their stakeholders are connected and how to best manage expectations

like

@S&D1 - this client is solo, no other person doing his particular role but him. Don't even think he can justify a headcount if he wanted to. I found out after the fact from my colleagues who service the global side that this client isn't particularly liked internally. Surprise surprise...

like

Thanks SDS1. Wish i could charge him for that stakeholder flowchart, but I might just have to do so for my own sanity.

like

GD1 - yes I've started to do so. In fact, this client hardly writes fresh emails. He would want me to write to him, so them he forwards it on to the right stakeholders to respond to me. I mean....the laziness is REAL!!!

like

I would just start cc’ing his stakeholders during important milestones. Don’t move forward until you gain “internal consensus”

Right so here’s a bit of a dilemma I work to a much higher standard at home and it’s this high standard that means I’m in line for a promotion. I’ve grown so much and I feel really strong in my role I’m also busier than ever. The problem is we’re going back into the office and I don’t want to go in if it’s just going to be senior management in asking me to get them lunches for client meetings or fetch a glass of water and cutlery for meeting rooms. Definitely not ready to go back to that….

Heard from me:

“Oh, junior person, you have edits to the monthly activity report 3 days after your deadline to review the report, and after I sent it to the client? How lovely for you."

I have a real estate client who at the top of his organization chart owns is 50/50 partners in a real estate investment company. First question is it advantageous to have the top of the organization 50/50 partners own the r/e company as an s-corp? That 50/50 company then owns 70% of holding company they own all the real estate as a partnership that the original partners are 35/35 and the investors own the remainder. All the real estate deals are then owned by this holding company.

A campaign my partner and I thought of went into testing, but died in the process. Same idea, concept, name and execution used on another client/ campaign just a month after, that we weren’t on. Few people from the old team were on this new campaign. We’re disappointed about it and wondering if this is a common thing that happens?

I realized I've been a dummy for getting a job at a creative agency and not working on my portfolio. Most of the projects I've taken on, I've done so as a way to support others without taking much credit for it. Now, a better opportunity came along and I don't have anything to show for my talent as a designer. ALWAYS take credit for what you do, even if it's not your project to begin with.

Hi guys currently I'm working in a project with very stringent timelines. Sometimes we need to put more than 13-14 hrs each day. There are 4 members in my team. Two are involved in database prt and me and my lead are involved in the front end and middle layer prt. Somehow my lead is not at all pleased with my work. And even if I try to talk to him for something he is completely rude. Sometimes it makes me that I m completely useless. Even the other team members are following the lead

⚠️Toxicity Alert ⚠️

My previous manager would track us by hours daily, made a fuss everytime anything stretched and guilt us for that and the unplanned leave too unless it was COVID. Hinted him a lot of time, this is problematic but apparently he considered it "standard practice for agile".

Now 8/10 teammates have switched within < 1 year of project start (6-7 months with him) which tbh had good work in our opinion and even team was fun to work with even though none of us ever met in person.

What is the average salary for a project manager at a social media agency? NYC-based with 5 years experience.
