The better question to ask yourself is if it’s necessary for your end goal(s), whatever that may be. And, if the required effort to get a CDPSE would be less than the tangible benefit. That’s how you determine if it’s worth it. But only you can answer that question after some self reflection.

If the goal is knowledge, adding to your stack is never a waste; it can actually be quite transformative.
Marketable? In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king.
Just don’t be a prick and I’m sure you’ll be better than most lawyers.
Beware that your profession is being eaten away by software -like many- and use the knowledge to connect silos. Even Legal Tech.
Beware 2: the CDPSE is not usually reachable without much effort. You really need to dig into the IT stack to be able to have it.
I would do the CIPP “collection” before I venture into certs done by ISACA, the world’s largest association of IT folks.
Having a CS background and/or 8-10y experience in IT usually cuts down time; but study is still needed, there’s much detail.
Yes. You have a JD. You are already marketable.
You don't need the actual certs. They are just preferred.
Just study, learn, and review the content of each cert.
Your actual daily operations in privacy will be different.
