I'd jump in a heartbeat if the ratio of COL and tax rate is better. If it's OK for you and family, you might be able to grow faster.
Well the COL in Italy in the major cities is not that low (I also lived in Ireland and UK). The reason was because of the different nature of the line of service (deal -> operational) and the fact that we have A, SA, and Assistant Manager, Manager and they only have A, SA, Manager.
From one accounting firm to another I’d only move for an equivalent/higher position AND higher pay unless it’s a move towards their strategy arm (e.g. Monitor, S&) where the levels are different.
Deloitte always offer a grade down, it happed to me too. I think in the grand scheme of things it doesn’t matter so much if you’re interested in operations work and want to build your capabilities in it. You’ll be promoted to SA there in a year or so, you’ll be in a better position financially and hopefully doing work you enjoy more. So I would focus on the reasons for doing this, if it’s just for the money then see if you can get the same by moving to another company in Italy and keeping your grade.
Then to me it sounds like this opportunity ticks all the boxes for you :) I wouldn’t focus on the title too much
