HELP PLEASE!!! Long story short. Canadian candidate got verbal offer last wk from US comp with idea I'd move to US on TN. This wk, hr calls me and says after checking, immigration team advised against TN. Hr will now see if it'd possible to bring me on via CAN office. If not, they won't be able give me a formal offer.

Key info: hiring team has a close relationship with CAN office.

I come from a target school in India (say MBB / T2 hires from my college every year) with ~1 YOE in consulting - based in Dubai. Accepting an offer in IBD, lateraling over from consulting. Opportunity of a lifetime for me so don’t want to lose it.
But timing is horrible. I joined the Army Reserves before this opportunity was on my radar. Interviewed over several months, got the offer, but shipping out in 1 month for training for 6 months.
Do I irreversibly shoot my career by joining and immediately going on LoA? I obviously haven’t mentioned it in the interview process. Or will this be forgotten a couple years in?
