Coach
No. Go be a L65 at Microsoft, work 30 hours a week and get paid $350k
How real is the annual stock grants? $65k per YEAR??
Anything above 55-60 can go screw itself unless it has 7 figures in it for me.
I love this response.
70-90 is too much
I'd cry
Coach
More money but no life is useless. I don't even want to work 40 hours a week, let alone 55 and no way in hell I'd do 70-90.
Nope
How is the heck do you all get these jobs paying this?
If you want to feel like a 50 year old by the time you hit 35, go for the 70-90 hour work week.
Yes
70-90 is too much imo
I love myself and so no thanks
Hell no
Do it!!
I've always to see what a paycheck from that salary range feels like. Do it for the little people. And then boomerang if you hate it.
Definitely sounds sweet. When I passed the $200 mark my life didn’t change too much compared to low 100s. Put around $70k of my bonus into the market. Knowing myself, I assume most of the incremental money would go into savings or the market
Nipe
Hell no! I'm 42 and would never work that many hours consistently lol. I've been on projects where I've had to do that for like a week or two, but no amount of money in the world can replace work-life balance!
Coach
Personally, I'd be evaluating my mental/physical/emotional risks.
If you've ever been under that level of stress before, what was the outcome?
Looking at medical history of family members under stress can also give a sneak peek at your genetic weak points: alcoholism? Obesity? Relationship problems? Heart problems? Autoimmune disorders? Mental illness (bipolar? Schizophrenia?)?
Just things to keep an eye on.
The higher salary isn't worth sacrificing your health and mental/emotional well-being.
Hail to the no, to the no, no no no. My time is more valuable then that.
A salary increase without an hour increase is about your value.
A salary increase for a minimal hour increase could be a combination of your value plus the extra work, depends on % increase in $ versus % increase in hours.
A salary increase for an excessive hour increase like this is just a premium being paid now for negatively impacting your actual health and potentially your life expectancy.
In the long run, it's not worth it. Especially because you can get that kind of salary these days with a job that's 50hrs or less.
No, with as much income/savings as you have, travel and live in your 30s (actually all of your years). Live a balanced life now. Don't wait even 2 years. #notworthit
Yes. Because money is more important than everything else in life. Go for it, you're young
Yes and work it for a yr and transition from that job into a 350k 50-55 hr week job.
Or u are gonna work 90 hours weeks find 2 jobs that each pay $250k
I did 65-70s with a part time MBA then at MBB for ~2 years and burnt out by the end of it all. Gained like 10-15 lbs and haven’t worked it off. I mean, I did triple my salary so I feel like it was worth it. However, that was 65-70s, and I had a hard time relaxing on weekends. My doctor warned me if I kept up like this over the long term I may get health problems. So, I’m trying to slow down. I feel a lot better now, have more balance, and have been able to sustain and exceed my MBB salary since leaving.
If your doing 70+ though, your risk of literally dying from work starts and you don’t really get a break. It will creep into weekends and disrupt your sleep. I mean you know yourself, some people thrive in that and want to try it out. It could be doable for a year or two maybe. I’d check with your close family and friends, the people who know you best, and I mean if it’s something you feel passionate about and will regret not trying give it a go, but I would caution you that these jobs can be very seductive and hard to leave. I wouldn’t be worried you may just leave in a year, I’d be worried you may stay for 10.
Where did you get your part time mba from?
