No because I’m done with working hard.
I think about moving to another consulting firm, but I think I'm done. If I don't stay put, it's industry for me. The thought of having to learn the lay of the land, build a network, and work hard to prove myself all the while delivering on client projects just sounds so exhausting.
Yes
cuz
Yes but only for like a year
Assuming you have a multitude of reasons for applying in the first place, yes. It opens up more opportunities and is a great brand to have on your resume.
It's hard to believe that MBB would be underpaying you, unless you didn't negotiate. So as for staying the same salary, it's fine. Either it will jump when you prove yourself or you leverage your MBB role to make a big jump after a year.
Haha yes, working at MBB has a host of other benefits than salary. Prominent ones are MBA sponsorship, a generous secondment policy, exit opps, working further upstream (if strategy work appeals to you), having more influence on clients inadvertently due to such high bill rates (this is more subjective, but I think it really does bear out), having more C-suite interaction, etc. The only cons seem to be a more competitive culture (a pro for some people tbh), likely longer hours...I can’t really think of any other cons...
You’d be surprised, most people don’t! Personally was a huge appeal to me.
Yes
Are you kidding? Exit opps from MBB are so much better than Big4. (I guess I don’t know what your particular role/practice is, but that is true in general.)
No
Don't worry - the assumption here is that you did get the offer.
Yes, exit ops + quicker salary progression
OP, on exits I would treat MBB like any big name “hard to get in” place on your resume. Part of the appeal is the vetting has been done by the firm, so when you exit a hiring company can be reasonably confident you’re a decent worker.
I moved to industry now, and my boss is happy to interview pretty much all MBBs, but quite restrictive for Big 4. When I conduct interviews, the average Big 4 person doesn’t do as well in things like cases, not necessarily because they are weaker as a worker but because they have a different kind of experience (Big4 work is so variable, whereas a MBB generalist is an MBB generalist).
To work on CDD, sure. Not for Strategy.
For sure! Better brand, more strategy projects, wider range of exit opportunities, and most likely also a jump in salary soon!
