I got an offer from another company. Currently working in walmart. The main idea behind getting an offer is to ask for a salary rise. I was very much underpaid here. So I thought getting an offer will help increase my pay here in walmart by getting counter offer from them. But i am not sure if I discuss with my manager it will backfire me.Walmart

Please don't,
- A corporate lawyer
I would not. What did you say your background was?
Don’t waste your life kid. A1’s response was satire and they were making the point that irrespective of whatever your background is, it’s a hard no.
Welcome to the mental asylum..cough..cough..I mean Big Law. We’re a fun bunch.
If grinding through something you hate turns you off from succeeding in a field you’ve already been immersed in for a while, I would not start over in a legal career where grinding through misery is the key to success. If you are lucky enough to go to a top law school and you kick enough A to get into the top 15%, then you can grind it out for good money in BL. Otherwise you’ll be doing it all for a lot less. If you’re serious about it, get a corporate paralegal job in a big firm in a major market for a year and see if it’s for you.
I’m still an Econ student, studying part time. I have CSC,CPH,WME & CFA level 1 (no bachelor yet) + 3 years of licensed experience. If you’re in the states it’s similar to having your series 7? Not sure which series it’s similar to but I can trade and work under supervision of portfolio managers and whatnot. I started working as an assistant to a Financial Planner at 19, then as a wealth associate to a PM, I’m 23 now and had seen multiple people in the industry and I feel grateful for it but at the same time I feel like I’m having a mid life crisis. I feel like I’ve had multiple “internships” with an overview of the routine and lifestyle of the people around me and I can’t bring myself to imagine doing this for the rest of my life. Maybe I’m just in my 20s and overthinking it. Adult life is scary
Associate 2, am I not fit for the job/culture of the workplace because of my background or is being a lawyer no better than the industry I’m in? Just out of curiosity.
You would probably be a great MBA candidate. Corporate law is really boring, has a ceiling for pay and is basically the back office of every deal. Limited to no transferability to other professions and also limited ability to change jurisdictions due to bar restrictions.
Honestly, the amount of commitment needed isn't something to consider lightly...law school is a massive commitment and expense so you need to e careful. Definitely worth it but you gotta think about it long and hard
