Product marketing is a really interesting field and a somewhat natural segment to product management. I really don’t see how corporate strategy is interesting unless you’re doing it for short bursts in consulting

Can I ask what background you have to get into product marketing? Finding it so hard to make it past the first couple rounds in interviews.
To answer your question though it depends on your end goals. If you want to work in something product/marketing/sales related, go for the product marketing role. You’ll always have to compete with others even for internal moves so if you do end up going with the corp strategy role, I’d think in the mindset that I can’t move internally. If not, would I still want it?
Thank you! Haha truly a symptom of peaking early. I hope we both bag dream offers soon 😊
I think product marketing leading to product management is harder to come across for consultants than Corp strat roles. But if you want to live a relatively easy life, then I’d pick not based on role but on the company culture, location, etc. Which one can give you the kind of lifestyle you want?
That’s fair - they’re both cushy competing tech companies. I’m just looking to optimize optionality. I probably won’t end up either offer though lol
But also conflicted because I’m way more interested in that product but might be a career inhibitor compared to product marketing - also longer hours because the team is all ex MBB. Don’t have either offer just yet but having a hard time where I should prioritize my prep
