Depends on my age:
Just out of college, sure, as it's a nice resume boost.
At this stage in my career, not a chance, as I wouldn't be able to care enough to endure the BS.

I could be wrong , Big 4 isn’t that difficult to break into

Once you’re in, you’re good. But it is difficult to get into the B4, and consulting in general
Nope! You will have to fight for your life to switch to the area you want
I was able to switch as an associate from assurance to advisory (forensic services) fairly quickly (couple months), but probably only because there was crazy need of spanish speakers in forensics. But I agree switching areas within big4 is like getting a new job. Need to do lots of networking, interviewing, strategizing etc etc. But everything is very possible if you are just determined to make a move and you are very persistent. I was able to switch departments and move states few times.
i did, hated my time there but my exit opps were worth the misery :)
Can you elaborate on the strategy role? Or share what firm it’s with?
Trick question: they’re all awful roles in big 4!

What kind of terrible role? My only worry would be that it’s not actually a good way to break in.
I was in the situation where I had an offer to work for PwC at a USDC which would’ve been a career killer, and at KPMG as a C1. A year later I landed at Deloitte as an SC. Point is, if you want to take it then go ahead, but if you think/know you deserve better, keep looking while you’re working

What’s the role?
It’s big 4, not McK…..so NO
Big 4 is ruthless enough as is. Don’t lower your bar even further.
Pro
Only like 2 of the big 4 is worth it (now we wait and see people argue which 2)
I’m the type to suck it up and put in the work if there’s a chance of moving to another position later. But the role is digital assurance, yup I know.
Digital assurance is IT Audit. 🤢
I would take a hard pass on that role
I'd say be careful if it's an internal role that's not traditional back office, they are hard to get out of and take lots of explaining when leaving (former internal person)
I did. Finished school at the bottom of the recession from a non-target school. Pwc AC was my only offer in big 4, but I knew I could work my way up there easier than I could in my boutique offers. I'm now in core, so no regrets. Sometimes you gotta pay your dues
Probably not. If you’re thinking you’re going to switch from digital assurance to another role…not gonna happen. That’s not how the Big 4 work.
No because even if you do get the role you want you’ll have 0 leverage to get paid market value let alone what you’ll feel you’re worth
Definitely not
I did that 8 years ago and it has paid dividends
Yes
Did this and went from 100k to 235k in 1.5 years (100k was salary before joining Deloitte and 235k current exit salary)
