Specialist roles aside, such as digital, when you see someone describing themselves as a “generalist marketer” is this a resume you’d pass on? My past roles have been such that I do a lot of marketing projects, tasks etc. but I’m not a specialist. I’m worried if I use this terminology I won’t even be considered for a role. Thank you

Is there any advice for networking into projects when you don’t know many people at the firm yet? I always to help on BD work when I’m on the bench, but it never turns into any billable work. Hey fishies, I have a friend who is interested in becoming a consultant but he’s taken an interesting path, would love your advice on any good angles he could take for applying/ types of roles. He has a bachelors in science (chemistry maybe?) from H/Y/P and after undergrad he took a less traditional route and was working as an instructor for things like tennis, piano, snowboarding, etc.. What can I do outside the office to boost my resume and be a substantially more attractive candidate for top consulting firms in ~12 months time. Working in disputes and valuation role but want to go into management consulting next year (post MBA role). I feel like my job isn’t enough because skills aren’t considered as transferable outside this field.
