Staff, asked why I was being fired and was told that my performance was bad - wasn't on a PIP, wasn't told this was coming, completely blindsided. Half my office is on a PIP and the partner who manages my group is about ready to fire everybody in it.
So long as you can afford your bills on unemployment, enjoy the break, get some new skills, and take the time to find a job that's the right fit.
What did you F up that got you fired?
I won't publicly say what line of service or office - for the sake of protecting the other people in my office.

EY 8 I can’t figure out how to post a picture in this thread. Someone posted new guidelines for people in tax about hours and engage and working on site/at home. It’s going to push folks with options out the door. Correction: open the door for folks with options to escape to better situations. They’ll continue to squeeze everyone who stays. New hires will adjust to this as normal. My guess is that after over hiring and trying for growth by volume (how new hires = new business I’ll never get) they’re in the process of over correcting and trying to find growth via higher margins. Then regardless of how far from 2020 goals they land they can talk about becoming a more agile and adaptable enterprise to set up the next branded growth plan.

I am sorry it happened to you. I am on PIP and have been stressed ever since. Did you get severance pay?

More and more stories like this represent the real vision 2020 strategy. If you can pay for what you need between now and your next gig this could turn out to be a good thing. Shit, look at the new ARMS mess at EY. I’d check KPMG or Deloitte.
