We’re definitely on our last legs as a nation. People want to ignore it but it will affect everyone at some point

That’s exactly the problem. Taco is creating so much chaos and economic flux. Biden handed down the best economy globally, post pandemic. 47 purposefully ruining it bc he is not financially literate- everyone who knows him says this. I mean he’s been bankrupt how many times. He’s also a felon 34x for fraud and corruption, and is liable for rape by a jury of his peers. And every country is laughing at us. Good times
There is no reason in this society that we shouldn’t have universal healthcare. If you really research it, we would all save $ in the end. We’re already subsidizing those who can’t afford it with our premium costs. If the insurance companies didn’t have so much power, we would all be better off and healthier.
It's all about the insurance companies as well. They make most of the decisions now instead of you and your doctor.
Is? More like, has been for decades.
It's not as bad as you're saying. It's a lot worse.
It's amazing to me how many people get so indignant about any poor person receiving benefits from social programs, but are thrilled to give our tax dollars to the ultra rich. Baffling.

I said the exact same thing. It’s mind blowing
You're not being dramatic - the situation is dramatic and unsustainable for most people. :-(
From what I can observe (limited perspective warning) there is a line of thought that success of medicaid and other "gap filler" government insurance is going to lead to mandatory universal healthcare where all healthcare is done by the government and private healthcare is abolished.
However I must point out that that's hyperbolic exaggeration to create a strawman that would falsely star in a slippery slope framing, to vilify government healthcare.
I propose, from my own opinion, that Medicaid is a necessary measure to at least guarantee some measure of "healthcare safety" for the populace, and as a government, that guarantees that at least a population of the unemployed is in a condition to enter gainful employment.
Of course, for both the case for Medicaid and the solution of "just get a job for healthcare" falls apart if no one is hiring in meaningful numbers.
However, for the middle and lower classes, having Medicaid is much better than being without healthcare, and that's the detail I want to emphasize.
For those of means or already employed, the government having Medicaid ready is either irrelevant to their wellbeing, or even a slight hinderance due to taxation.

Here is something I forget say in my last comment on this subject of working to get Health Insurance or Switching to Universal zHealth Insurance which apparently is working very well in some countries from replies I have gotten but, Why did Trump put our Government $5 Trillion more in National Debt 🤔 🙄
You're being dramatic.
People will never understand until it happens to them.
First of all, if people who are here in the country illegally are receiving federal benefits, than that equals fraud. If you can prove it, report it. If you are only hearing third hand, then do more research to make sure it's true.
As for work documentation, how are people doing multiple jobs supposed to document - how do you prove you worked 5 hours for Uber if you only had three rides during that time frame (and yes, I know people in this situation - drive to the airport is one hour, and if you can't pick up someone coming back here, it doesn't count)?
What about caregivers? If I quit my job to take care of my disabled parent so they don't need to go to a nursing home, how do I document my unpaid work? (incidentally, the average nursing home is $10K a month - many people need to go on Medicaid to pay for it, so we're not going to save money forcing caregivers of the elderly and disabled back into the workforce).
I thought this administration was going to be all about efficiency. Instead, they've created so much more waste.
On a side note, I volunteer at a local food pantry. The majority of people we serve have jobs but still can't make ends meet. Many are just over the threshold to qualify for food stamps. And many are in their late 50s to early 60s and can't find work. Perhaps some of the people commenting that they are lazy and not trying hard enough should come down, look them in the face and say that to them.
I know personally that that is true. A lot of illegals are on state benefits. I have seen it. When I first got on benefits, the lobby was full and I was the only American that was in the waiting room.
How to secure an interview with American Airlines. Anyone have ideas.im trying to pivot to a different job
Not dramatic at all, you are spot on. The system feels like it is working against the middle and lower class. On one side, people are told to just “get a job” for healthcare, but the reality is unstable employment, mass layoffs, and months of job searching even for qualified people. The safety nets keep getting thinner while the cost of living keeps climbing. That gap is what makes this direction really concerning, not just for those directly affected but for the country as a whole.

Well Explained and Well said ! That is the Truth about it "in a Nut Shell".
Its that bad!
I totally agree I work in the health insurance field for state entities and it;s a mess and only going to get worse. Also it is very rare that firm now offer insurance much less insurance that is affordable.
I have worked all my life. Went to school, got a degree and worked all the time. I am VERY happy to see those who continually make the wrong decision are reaping the consequences of it. Yes, everybody would love to keep getting something for nothing but that is NOT how it works. Maybe you should start making good decisions even if they are inconvenient to you and your life.

OP: A lot to unpack, but let’s give it a try.
1. You listed only non-chronic conditions, majority of which require surgery and post-op care. Of course they should be taken care of, and paid for in part by you and your insurance.
2. Our healthcare system is overburdened by conditions related to chronic issues stemming from poor diet and lack of exercise. That’s a major factor in driving the cost of healthcare higher.
3. A significant number of patients don't pay their hospital bills in full, with estimates suggesting that roughly two-thirds of patients don't fully pay off their hospital bills. Yet, they still show up at hospitals and are provided with care, bed, meds, facilities, and etc…, shifting the burden of higher costs to insurance, which in turn raises costs to the rest of us.
You want it to be affordable - you and me both buddy. But healthcare is not free. Universal healthcare sucks in its own way - try waiting for 6-18 month for a surgery that needs to happen today. Facilities and equipment is sure as hell not cheap. Doctor salaries are sky-high because of the insane demand due to growing and aging physician workforce nearing retirement, physician burnout, the cost of medical education, limited residency positions (capped by congress) and the increasing demand for healthcare services.
How you feel about taxes is irrelevant - and even if by some miracle insurance would drop to $100 a month for an entire family today, people would still find ways to avoid paying into the system. That’s just how it is.
At the end of the day, if medical care would be provided with upfront payment/copayment/deductible only, or you get shown the door, I have zero doubt you would witness insurance costs would dropping significantly.
We were warned it's going to get harder before it gets better. You cannot fix things until the broken pieces are identified. We have to stay strong and support what we feel is essential. Too much disinformation is being fed to the people. Make sure you have the correct information before you lose hope in the government.

Never had less faith in a White House administration. Much like 60% of the country
You're absolutely correct!
Lots of jobs in Missouri and Florida for sure!!!

Let’s stop giving these multimillion/multibillion companies to pay for their own shit. Why are we giving subsidies to Amazon or Disney world or Tesla? Like some get billions with a B, some get trillions with a T.
If you’re able bodied and getting Medicare, you deserve to be kicked off.
I said what I said
Hello, Michigan High School Teacher 1
Teaching isn't easy career and you meet children from different homes, with different parenting styles and behaviors and it makes it difficult when it comes to another school year and you identify basic needs children aren't getting at home. When the basic needs of love, nurturing, food, health and shelter isn't being meet and combine a classroom of 28 to 30 students and 40 percent of the class are missing the basic needs, then NO; its not right and its the signs of true struggle in people and communities lives. I say this because I live in a low income poverty community and I've been substitute teacher in low-income community schools and seen it first hand. Not funny when kids come to school hungry and you already passed out the morning meals and its students still hungry (students mad and become aggressive in classroom). Its not funny when kids come to school falling to sleep because they didn't get enough rest and homework not completed and not prepared to learn. It makes a teacher job not so easy in K-12, when you have to deal with behavior issues, related to issues you have no control over at their home (other than to call protective services )
Teachers call protective service because they do not want deal with the behavior issues in the classroom. Then teachers do not want parents thinking school is the drop off point for babysitting; its an institution for learning
But, Union teachers telling students that someone just a sub and they do not have degree and teachers need to be paid. That's why the regular teachers do sickouts and why you have sub today. But a sub is to be respected and some subs have extensive education, degrees and training, so someone lied to children and created stressful work environment for their union pay. But, if it was an active shooter situation in classroom and the students supporting the union sick out and loud and unruly, then how could the sub give instructions to save a child life, if the children been taught to disrespect sub or think less of sub?
Another thing, funding isn't just being cut in healthcare, but also in other resources in which where people go to get help (shelters, food pantries, free clinics and much more in my area)
With the school year soon to start or already started for others, I wish a safe and productive school year to teachers, paraprofessionals , substitute teachers, hall monitors, security and students. It's not an easy job and tried it for year.
We are worried. The people employed make it possible for the ones unemployed to get healthcare. If there are too many unemployed, the healthcare system could crash.
I am looking for flight attendant jobs. It's hard to get hired. How do I get an interview?
The Medicaid cuts may be an artifact of Trump losing the 2020 election. Had he won, the temporary higher standard deductions of 2017, (a “something for you” along with the permanent 40% corporate tax cuts) would be expiring now. The plan was to let them expire. To make the Democrats have a no win proposition of supporting higher taxes for workers or a way higher deficit. Republicans would have been against the deficit increase, and it all got messed up by Trump winning in 2024 instead of 2020.
Ironically, the entire deficit is being spent in the states claiming to be against the deficit. Places like NY, CA, MA, WA, and NJ continue to carry the nation economically, while rural states continue to be more costly to govern, with lower wages and populations that are older and poorer. Not one GOP state would vote that you can’t get more cash from the federal government than you contribute.

As someone who has worked in Healthcare for a good many years, I can verify that, yes, illegal aliens do receive Medicaid and Medicare. You're aware of identity theft, right? Stealing the SS#s of dead people-babies who have died and also had SS #s assigned to them. Or troops overseas who have illegals using their SS#s to get benefits. Who do you think pays for the DUI crash injuries or the babies that have been born to illegal aliens??Any ER visit that anl illegal has made is paid for by US Medicaid.
Now they clearing out HUD homes that Illegal aliens have procured. We'll find out in the next year or so just how many illegal aliens HAVE been on Medicare and Medicaid.
I know of patients in our hospitals, here illegally, who have been kept alive on ventilators, also on Medicaid, for several months, where the hospital (taxpayer) was eating the bills. Those hospitals decided it was less expensive to pay for either air or land ambulance to get them to a hospital who would receive them in their own country. That doesn't occur overnight. It means talking to the family, to the hospital, to that country's Immigration people and getting all ducks in a row to transfer these patients to their respective homelands. There has been an enormous amount of $$$$$$ never recouped by hospitals here. In California, illegal aliens were in rehab centers for alcohol and drug abuse. We took care of premature babies whose mamas were citizens from other countries, not the US in our NICUs on the taxpayer dime.
The illegal alien children are educated here if they live on the border-our school busses pick them up at the border! Taxpayers pay for those kids! If you look at the reading and math scores if schools along the border, they are in the een percentages in assessment scores for reading and math-bring up those school numbers!
Public services like WIC and family planning ate utilized by illegal aliens because we don't turn them away. Those who work in those sectors are not immigration enforcement.
We, the American Citizen, have been the pressure valve for the corruption in other countries, especially Mexico. I teach in schools along the border. Some of those kids are Cartel family members. Why doesn't the Cartel donate anonymously to US schools for the education we provide these kids, some of whom are not motivated to speak, read or write English and haven't learned enough to speak, read or write in español. They recruit openly for other kids living in the US to work for a Cartel. They bring their country's ways-early marriage, babies out of marriage, drinking and driving, gangs, drugs, theft, lying here and people turn a blind eye to it and giggle and then hate the people who want to cleans up the corruption because if the domino effects we see here with corruption. Don't we have enough home grown criminals of or own? The males who are monolingial español bring thir macho culture here are dismiss or minimize females, including staff at the schools.
We have the same issues now with the radical Muslims moving in. Bring up YouTube videos of what's happening in Paris and Great Britain if you have seen or heard anything about the rape gangs that radical Muslims are forming because the way that females in the West dress , means they are asking for "it".
The Radical Muslims slip in by calling themselves a religion and we have freedom if relugion, right? But they follow a book written by a man who hated women and sees them only as objects that are expendable, so they don't educate them, they keep them covered up and encourage men to beat them and stone them. There needs to be a distinction made between a religion, which radical Muslim is NOT, and a CULT, which they definitely ARE.
Ask yourselves why we donate or hear anything about the radical Muslim cult in the EU in our MSM.
6 mayors, now, possibly a 7th with Momdani, slip in under the guise of um, uh "socialism". They are radical Muslims in sheeps' clothing. They will or are allowing Sharia (radical Muslim cult) in. They are the Trojan horse to the West.
When and where has true socialism ever helped the little man thrive? What country today lives with socialism, where you see only the ones in power living in extreme money and elegance while Joe Schmoe lives , barely eeking by with food and shelter and education and safety.
If you have forgotten what Americn values are or haven't read the Constitution lately or ever, do it now before we lose what America stands for. We have elected officials blabbering about things being against the Constitution and people parroting their words, like they are from God's lips to their ears. Wise up, think for yourselves, before we lose everything because of corrupt elected officials with microphones but no brains feeding what comes out of their mouths.
Tort reform. Look at how much malpractice insurance costs. People in certain segments of society believe it's A-OK to make $$$$$$ by scamming the system. Juries awarding unbelievable awards for medical mistakes when not taking into account that medicine isn't an exact science and abusing the body with crap food, no physical activity, smoke, street drugs and not finding your purpose in life just can't cure everything. Humans have to work on critical thinking skills and common sense and stop thinking that something else or someone else can undo what they've brought upon themselves.
Illegals are just one facet of the problem of the high cost of Healthcare.
