Any female MM/ENT AEs with SaaS or Fintech experience looking to make a move? Series D company positioned to IPO in 2 years. Would be wild if this works lol
Anyone here work at PwC in North America? Curious about the work culture and if there's anything to watch out for
How many billable hours did you record in March? I had to get an early start on quarantine because a co-worker tested positive for COVID-19. So, I’ll start, 155.
I know this isn’t a job board but what the heck...anyone’s firm hiring remote securities attorneys? Older second year associate with 5 years of pre- law school and 5 years post-law school prior relevant experience. Most recently 1.5 years of traditional cap markets/securities law experience.
Curious about non-US attorneys: are you working the crazy hour weeks most of us in the US do? Or are your weeks closer to 40 hours? I hear a lot about the working hour caps, vacation requirements, etc in Europe/Canada. Curious if that flows into legal practice... or if it gets ignored. To clarify—I’m talking about BigLaw. I’m sure there are smaller firms with reasonable hours, the same exists in the US.
If you are feeling sick or something during the day and WFH, do you feel comfortable napping it off and then getting back to work and working late if needed? I have friends that say this is totally normal and okay but I feel weird about it and can never actually rest to feel better if I do lay down
Would you ask for a higher pay at a startup, due to the company not having a pension scheme for its employees?
To those who have several years of experience ion TA: Do you think staying in the campus recruiting space limits you? Should one try to get exposure to other HR areas for the long run?
Leaving mid-law to go solo. Restrictions/bewares on soliciting my own clients (who may have ties to other attorneys in the firm outside my practice area)?
Do any AmLaw 200 firms offer fee splitting for associates? As a senior associate, I originate more than my salary and I know that many others with the same title in my firm originate little/nothing. Yet we are all paid about the same base and our bonuses are underwhelming. Sounds like a rant but am just curious.
Took my first deposition today and it went great! I attribute some of that to the tips I got from here - I searched the group and saw some really good suggestions and things to keep in mind, and it really helped me! I’m a first year so I was really worried about it but happy to have found it to not be nearly as stressful as I expected.
What does your work schedule look like (roughly) if you are aiming for 1900 billable hours?
Any tips on how best to draft an email asking for work from a partner who I haven’t worked with and who doesn’t know me? I’d like to get on their matters and want to craft an email that would actually get them to respond and be interested in giving me the work (as opposed to just acknowledging my interest and forgetting about it the next day).
Guys. I have an impulse purchase problem... (FYI I'm kidding. I have a small flock and am replacing a hen who died from being egg bound.)
My stress level is bad due to working for incompetent people. One partner would send me work with garbage instructions or for things that are completely out of my expertise, and when I ask for guidance they turn around and ask another attorney to explain to me. What the heck - why would you give me work if you don’t even know how to do the work or what you’re looking for? How do these people make partners?
Is reading through Fishbowl billable time?
Anyone here a member of Revenue Collective? Is it worth it? What kind of value have you gotten out of it if so? Thanks!
I graduated from law school in 2007, went to big law and was laid off in 2009 due to the Great Recession. I went back to school and got my LLM in tax, after a stint at big 4, I got back into big law but was asked to start over as a first year. Years later, close to partnership and being mentored in that direction, I lost my job due to something completely out of my control that I can’t get into. I always wanted to make partner, but I’m struggling at my new firm with not enough work (p. 1)
I need to get surgery to fix a non day-to-day impairing injury. 6 week recovery time minimum, would prevent travel.Rolling off project at end of month, and leaving firm for MBA by August (firm knows)
What role is a Senior Lead at Deloitte - is it a Manager, a Senior Manager, a Director...?
I feel like for companies that give out offers, they should pay you an deposit fee or damage expense if they retract an offer because of their own situation but not related to the job seeker. The burden of risk should not fall to the job seeker. Thoughts?
Is $3.5k for 1br in a luxury building in Manhattan generally considered reasonable? Moved to the city during covid with 3 month free on my original lease so trying to make sense of what the usual rate is…
What’s so great about Allbirds? Curious. Never had them. Do you wear them at the client site or as casual shoes?
First time founder - would you recommend square, stripe or something else for purchases between $150-$10k or what alternatively?
I'm interviewing for a non-tech role (content developer, for technical docs) at MSFT. I've had my screening and "informational" round; next will be the 4-hr loop with a few people. Curious what the interviews might be like for a role like this (I know engineers/programmers get coding questions and problems to solve on the spot...). Anyone here familiar?
Hello! I know ppl have different positions on this, but what do you guys do for 401k purposes? I opted out of mine bc of interest. I want to have security when a retire though, any good options you guys can recommend?
Question for HC 🐠 of color. If you were offered a role at a company where there was little to no diversity within the group you were interviewing for (not even at the level you were interviewing for, or at senior leadership level) would this be a red flag for you in terms of culture, & potential opportunities? I want to keep an open mind but this company has been around for 20 years. The people I interviewed with were great but im concerned that there’s a larger problem at play. Thoughts?
For those of you who were once summer interns, what would have been the ideal intern closing event?
Anyone know how Cityblock health pays? Just in general but maybe for more entry level/second job level positions
Hey Fish! I have an acquaintance from Penn who is looking for some guidance about applying to consulting firms. She is specifically looking to get connected to folks from Alvarez and Marsal. Anyone willing to hop a on a call?

Anyone have advice on generating passive income? I invest in Vanguard (brokerage, Roth IRA, 529), Fidelity (401k), BTC, and high yield savings account.
Any suggestions on what to do differently considering the current economic climate? I’m at a Big 4 firm (not Deloitte) and concerned about layoffs. I haven’t taken any vacation this year and don’t want to take the voluntary hour reduction either. I plan to just keep my head down and deliver/sell as best I can. Should I be more proactive? Get involved with a specific big account I’ve been avoiding for a while now?
Is it worth joining National Black MBA Association? Not able to attend the conference, but I’d like to expand my network for sure.
You’re on a Southwest flight, sitting in your seat with one person left to find a seat. You know there are only two seats left, both are middle seats and one is next to you. What do you do?
Hey fellow fishes! I’m on my notice period. Confused between the two. One from Big 4 for Consulting profile. Another for PM. What is better in terms of work and career pivot? PS: I have 3 years exp in software consulting
I’m a second year insurance defense attorney. I enjoy my job but I am really interested in adoption and fertility law. What is the best way to go about learning more about these areas? Perhaps in the future, I’d like to take on a case or two while still working my insurance job. Does anyone have experience with working in one area full time but personally taking on cases in another specialty?
