You took the job. That indicates you didn’t have an option paying $5k more. Sounds like they priced your comp right?
Makes the point that those masters have 0 market value; so does executive MBAs and full-time MBAs outside of top 10-20...
I received $5K extra. For those who came in with a MS + a previous internship at the firm, they almost all started at Senior Analyst level (so 6-12 months ahead, $10-15k bump).
Don’t know about PWC, but that would get you nothing extra at Bain
Only for tax does a masters in tax have any effect. Otherwise a targeted MBA or JD. everything else is ignored.
It depends on your line of service and which school you received it from. I’m in advisory and there’s an A3 on my team with an MBA that started as an A2, and my friend with a MA in Comp Sci got offered at A2, but generally speaking, unless otherwise negotiated, at pwc Advisory, only a targeted MBA would put you in the advanced degree pay tiers
compared to colleagues with just a BS/BA?
I had the same case with EY. It depends on which BIG4 and which region. The west coast did have a pay difference between bachelor's and masters, but the south and east coast did not. ALSO it depends on the schools they recruit from and how many candidates they get. I'm sure if PWC suddenly had a drop in top candidates becuase the other firms were paying more that PWC would catch up. But since everyone applies to all the firms they still get the same candidates anyways.
Nothing at Deloitte. Firms do not value the degree
In my intern days, pwc offered 1K more in base salary for masters (engineering) vs bachelors
Actually dd1, that’s not quite accurate. I have a MAcc and I received 3k more than my counterparts that started with only an undergrad degree. I am in consulting tho, I hear that Advisory/Audit don’t pay more for the MAcc...
Deloitte consulting takes you at consultant level than associate level if you have masters and relevant experience. The pay difference is around 30k
People at big 4 make significantly more with BS/BA and cpa than those with a Macc
I am not sure about MAC because you gotta have CPA regardless if you are in direct accounting field. For other fields, Master is must in EY to get promoted beyond certain level
