Foley & Lardner
Can anyone weigh in on quality of life at Foley & Lardner? Getting mixed reviews from people...
Thoughts on Foley & Lardner (general and specific to DC office). Considering a lateral move but don’t have much information about the firm. Thanks in advance!
Anyone have any experience with Foley & Lardner. Curious to know about their culture, lifestyle and industry reputation.
I actually don’t know much about compensation increases that come with promotions. What does the typical % increase look like for an internal recruiter? Just trying to understand all of the things.
Pretty sure my managing partner just caught wind of me applying to other firms even though I used a recruiter. I know it happens, but how do I prepare for the potential blowback? What do I say if he asks about it?
I was hired by client to draft a form MSA and SOW (the client is a freelance HR coach). She showed her form to another freelance HR coach and now they want to use the form I made for my client and my clients asking if that’s ok? Any advice?
Anyone here work at PwC in North America? Curious about the work culture and if there's anything to watch out for
Curious about non-US attorneys: are you working the crazy hour weeks most of us in the US do? Or are your weeks closer to 40 hours? I hear a lot about the working hour caps, vacation requirements, etc in Europe/Canada. Curious if that flows into legal practice... or if it gets ignored. To clarify—I’m talking about BigLaw. I’m sure there are smaller firms with reasonable hours, the same exists in the US.
First time founder - would you recommend square, stripe or something else for purchases between $150-$10k or what alternatively?
I am a first year associate in Biglaw. I have been put on an improvement plan to increase my billable hours. My supervisors have commented that have not been getting work because I need to improve my efficiency. I am willing to do what it takes to improve but wonder how to improve my hours when no one seems willing to give me a second chance.
How would you answer a “Why X law firm over other magic circle law firms?” question in an interview?
Anyone else’s billables pathetic this month despite the fact that we’re in our 5th week of January? 🤣
Can we stop attaching unpublished cases yet?
So, I'm really curious, for those of us who aren't essential workers, how are you handling return to work? Phases? 50% capacity? Self Identifying disclosures? Sanitization stations?
You’re constantly showing up for everyone else, but who’s showing up for you? I started an initiative to coach HR/people leaders because I know what it’s like to be doing all the things for everyone else with little support or focus on your own well-being, growth and development. It’s a lonely game! I’d be delighted to create the space to make you a priority. Would love to offer a free session, or simply connect: https://www.chrisrollins.me/peopleleaders.
Any foreign attorneys feeling lost while working towards their master’s of law in US and working towards getting bar admission? Being an Indian-trained attorney, I still await to sit for bar (this year delay pandemic) but always curious about how things turn out for other foreign attorneys here on F1 visa.
Would you ask for a higher pay at a startup, due to the company not having a pension scheme for its employees?
I’m planning to buy the study materials for the SHRM-CP certificate through Amazon. What are the best ones to obtain?
I’m looking for a screening tool that will assess a candidate’s proficiency with MS-Teams. Would anyone know if there is such a thing that exists?
Any intel on culture/reputation of Schneider Wallace Cottrell Konecky LLP, particularly in California?
Any life science firms or Tier 2/MBB hiring right now? I have a year of experience at a healthcare boutique and 8 months as an ER associate covering biopharma at a top MM bank.
Thoughts on a technical consultant role at Qualtrics? Had a phone and technical interview today. Company seems good but not a lot of salary data on Glassdoor for the Seattle office.
Anyone ever get mildly “catfished” by a job description? And it turns out the role itself is similar but not quite as grand as the details before.
Got promoted effective 7/1 but am leaving the firm with a start date of 7/7. When should I put in my two weeks? Would like vacation balance paid out at higher salary.
I’m a current C going up for SC this year and in the process of looking for a new job. I am being offered senior consultant roles at tech companies. Is the level being offered normal? Any idea on comp I should expect?
Hi! So, I’ve been at the adtech I work for for 5 years. I’ve been able to learn and grow in my role and, honestly, I’m happy. BUT I’ve had calls with 2 different recruiters this past month for different tech companies in different stages, both offered much more than what my current salary is (at least $20k over my base salary, even when I had a 10% raise this year). I’m realizing I’ve been severely lowballed and kind of want to bring it up to my manager. Anyone have any experience like this?
Applied to a role but after submitting I noticed a significant typo in my resume (one date on my previous role had the wrong year so the dates don’t line up) Would it be destructive to quickly create a new email and apply again to the position? Company uses greenhouse so I can’t edit my application retroactively.
Ridiculous Q: MBB, do your interviewers really care if candidates use pencils instead of pens during cases?! 😂Friend swears pencils are frowned upon because difficult to read across the table....
I am looking to gain certification or other credentialing in diversity and inclusion, not only because it would look good on my resume both for future job-search purposes and also to become better educated in this area, which is growing in importance. I looked at SHRM's "Inclusive Workplace Culture Specialty Credential" and got a bit of "sticker shock" at the cost - $1,655.00 for members. Does anyone have other suggestions on training/credentialing in this area?
Not sure how consulting firms expect to retain talent out of undergrad if they barely raise pay. Left consulting after 1 year, end of 2nd year and I’m at 180k comp now with friends at D and PWC barely hitting 85. I know seniors at D not even making 100k
New coach or brush off? Story: Newish hire who previously worked in area "A" pre-Covid that has seen less business. My current project is Covid related and sits in a different unit, say "B." (B for booming practice) My coach sits in "A" and meets with "B" leadership telling them "they didn't know if "A" would work out/be a fit and they're trying to see if other things will fit...." Wtf? Your "A" business is down 10-20% given covid and suddenly I'm not working in "A" because of "fit"?
Why do D layoffs target newer people? I know of several people with great reviews + high utilization but less than 1 year tenure and were let go. Whereas some with several years of tenure but mediocre/good ratings still have a job.
Anyone who has worked in corporate development in a Fortune 500 company willing to connect? Looking to learn more about the experience, comp structure, progressions, etc.
For any former Deloitte now at Accenture - what did you do with your 401k? Leave it? Roll it over? Haven’t yet gotten the details on ACCN 401k plans.

If you were given absolute freedom to do anything you wanted in your classroom for 5 weeks, what unit would you teach? What kind of writing would you do?
