I’m feeling really drained and frustrated with my current role. I like recruiting but it’s getting exhausting. What’s next for me after this? What roles can I look into that are less demanding but still pay well. For context I make around 76k right now and would like to increase that. Am I stuck in recruiting? I currently work for a big name firm. Do you have any company suggestions to look into where recruiting might not be as overwhelming and stressful where it won’t consume my life.

Does anybody work in a rule for a litigation finance or legal funding company who doesn't hail from a big law firm in background? Basically I have a lot of interest in the area have read a book about it in my free time and was wondering what sort of entry level opportunities I should be seeking.

What would you prefer:

Job 1: 85k at small boutique firm (3 attorneys). Standard benefits but no 401k. Semi-annual raises. No billable hour requirement and regular 40 hour week. Being groomed to be a partner on a 2-3 year track.

Job 2: 135k at large regional firm (200 attorneys) good benefits. 1900 billable hours requirement. Partner track is 6-8 years but not guaranteed.

Both located in a MCOL area

I just saw a stat on SHRM that best in class orgs have $1,100 per employee budget for HR (including all HR FTE’s, systems, etc) this seems unreal. Is anyone willing to share how they develop their HR budget? And what’s included?

What would you do if your boss started cherry picking your successful projects and trying to take them over? Keep in mind, this new boss has had 8 months to get acclimated and has not brought anything new to the table. Strategizing how to deal with this.

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks

Took 2 years off and built a health & wellness coaching platform for my wife (medical provider). Then, the last 2.5 yrs, have been a top producer in Saas sales as a senior account executive. I’ve been told I would make a great COO someday and I’m ready to take the next step into leadership. Who/what should I be targeting next?

I’m looking for some advice and/or to vent a little. I’ve been looking for a sales job specifically to pivot into tech sales and I’m getting rejected non stop and it’s really starting to weigh on me and ruin my confidence.

The positives are, I’m actually getting interviews- about 5 so far, I get to the later/last rounds but can’t seem to close the deal. I’ve tried learning from each experience, and taking that as growth for the next interview but it hasn’t worked.
I have 7yrs total sales exp.

10 years sales experience selling eyewear to eye doctors. If I were to transition to tech would I have to start as a BDM? I think that would be a pay cut for me. Thanks

Transactional junior associate in biglaw. Working for a dedicated practice group rather than in an associate pool. For the past few months, I’ve been loaned to another practice group for a good chunk of time. While the people are decent and the hours aren’t terrible, I detest the work and don’t see a future in this new practice. My main partner says it should end in the next month, but I don’t expect that to happen. Is it a terrible idea to ask to be taken off?

A friend of mine died today. She was a lawyer,too. Smart, funny, talented beyond belief, hard-working, knowledgeable, beautiful, humble, and genuinely well liked by all who knew her. While she was an exceptional attorney, it is not her legal acumen that I will miss, but rather how she made everyone feel good about themselves when she was near. Be righteous to each other, won’t you? 

I’m my partners only associate and I went on parental leave two weeks ago. I feel horrible for leaving him to handle our cases alone, but am trying to focus on my wife and new baby. That being said, should I still offer to handle minor matters that come in to ease the workload off my boss? He’s been super cool during my entire leave, so I don’t feel pressured to one bit.
