Interview tomorrow for a tax associate opening at RSM. Been working in a mid-size city (different firm) that is about 70 minutes from this new home office in a larger metro. How flexible is WFH or dual model going forward post Covid? Am interested in this position and going to tax, but not be able to relocate for family reasons. Don’t want to drive 700 miles per week M-F. What will dual model be like going forward? 1-2 times week, 4-5 month? Seems like tax was more flexible than audit pre-Covid

Just finishing my first week in as an audit intern and genuinely I have no idea what I'm doing or even a general idea of the audit process. The senior associate left the engagement last week so it's just me and an associate, and they don't have time to give me instruction.

Am I stupid or did the e-learns not prepare me for any of this? The training told me I'd be auditing cash but I haven't even touched a bank reconciliation.

IFRS question. A long outstanding loan (more than 5 years). Borrower has stopped operations years after loan was issued. Should the loan be fully impaired? If not, how should PD be calculated (can't get equivalent PD of the credit rating since there's no more tenor).

If you passed the CPA exams in your first year in PA but are about accept an investment banking analyst position, would you still apply for the license?

My company covers in depth results each week, including meetings set/attended, wins, revenue, retention etc. I feel as if evaluating in such depth is detrimental to the psyche, as you never get to “ride the high.” In addition, some weeks are simply slower than others, and it’s not always representative of what the results at the end of the period or quarter will be. Is this not a big deal, and I’m I placing too much importance on it? Or is it beneficial to review results less frequently?

I'm 4 years into my career, currently I work at one of the largest public advisory firms writing research and taking advisory calls with CIOs/CFOs on strategy around IT Cost Optimization, IT/technology finance, benchmarking, budgeting etc. I enjoy the role but fear not being able to do much with this experience. So be prepared for very less hikes in coming cycle :( Also automotive sector in general is struggling with tesla laying off 10% workforce recently. Maybe time to make a move? What do you say fishes?
