Hi Fishes, I grabbed an offer at Accenture with 12 LPA fixed for Level 9. I'm not getting a retention offer from my current company at 13.5 lpa. How do I go about a counter offer with Accenture HR? Also tell me how to approach this situation smoothly.
If HR doesn't fulfill the counter offer, is it ok to accept 12 lpa fixed for Level 9 and when will I get a hike here and how much would it be approximately?

For PwC fishes who left recently, how did you consolidate wealth builder into 401k within benefits express to avoid the 20% federal tax withholding that was described in the benefits package? I tried to do this online but it didn’t show as an option except to rollover to an existing IRA or take a final distribution. Do I need to call benefits express?

All bonuses are taxed extremely high. IRS wants to make sure you don’t spend all the money and cheat the tax man.
Fed bonus rate, FICA, and state get you close to 40% plus 401k if applicable and it sure would feel like half.
They’re withheld at a higher rate, not actually taxed at a higher rate. You could adjust your W-4 to make up for the incrementally higher withholding, but it’ll wash out at tax time next year.
The relativity of taxes to income: withhold more on your current bonus = more refund when your ETR is lower than the 25% withheld on the bonus.
Taxes are 50%?? I’m guessing around 9,000 take home for my area. Not nothing!
I set up a new direct deposit a few weeks ago that I forgot about. This was the first pay period it took effect. When I looked away my regular bank I freaked that I got way less than I was expecting. Then I looked at the actual pay statement and was still shocked how little I got after taxes and deductions, etc... i should have updated my 401k contributions, I'm going to have to update later to make sure I get the full match this year.
