Ok stop ditching your own background. You're doing ok. MBA would be good to retool yourself. If you're 30 single, childless and don't know where to go from here, do a MBA now.
The market is tighter than recent years, otherwise I’d say just push yourself into the commercial space with the D brand. I know of several former D than moved into commercial work. But nowadays an MBA could help sell your case given greater risk aversion by MNCs due to macro factors, AI, etc.
If I were you, I’d sit down and do an opportunity cost analysis using your current situation as the alternative and your target school’s tuition minus / expected scholarship to benchmark cost. Use the median salary of your targeted industry and discount you future cash flows for ten years versus expected salary progression at D. Be analytical and ignore the prestige nonsense. A PT MBA or EMBA could make sense, otherwise you’ll have an idea of what cost ceiling you’d be willing to accept for an FT MBA.
