I recently interviewed for L7 EM at Google and had 4 great interviews and one not so great system design. I submitted external referrals all of which gave great feedback. The recruiter said the next step is team match/interviews and then the HC. Anyone in a similar situation? What was the result? Google

Deloitte S&O anyday. Money will follow dude. S&O has the best reputation and EY has a NON existent strat practice that is brand new and you'll spend most of your time doing pursuits or fake "strat" projects. This is a no brainer.
Not sure where the zero pipeline is coming from -- that is false. Yes, our strategy/customer group is only a few years old and smaller than S&O so it will be different. That being said, all strategy projects I have been on have been won against PwC, Deloitte, ACN, MBB. We also sell work with Parthenon and those projects are awesome. In the end, if your friend isn't looking to be in consulting long term, I would say come to EY for the money and significantly better culture.
That 20k difference won't actually feel like much and that signing bonus could actually hurt because it straps her down to EY
Prd is practice development (or mandatory nonsense extracurricular white papers, training, and other stuff you must do to prove you are worthy to be part of the firm.). Expect to spend at least 10 hours / week on it, or more, depending how many you are on.
I'm not aware of any part-time MBAs in our Strategy pipeline. Are you coming in through the Customer side? Regardless, we have a perfectly healthy pipeline and plenty of projects in-flight. Most work in the industry is transformation-related, and the same goes for us. If you want to do market entry, top-line growth, new product launch, PMI, pricing, etc, we have great opportunities there as well. I have personally worked on cases of that nature. Our external brand is weak, but I like being part of a team that's pushing and climbing and building. I get to put my fingerprints on this practice. That's not for everybody, but if that's for you, EY is great.
I'm a manager in the practice and I don't know any manager in PI Strategy who's engaged... 🤔🤔🤔 are you sure? Or hmmm time to get to know my colleagues better I guess...
Anyway, can't say anything bad about Deloitte Consulting since I don't work there, but EY Strategy is full of cool people I enjoy working with. It's true that the pipeline may not be as robust as other established practices, but when we do get projects, it's really cool projects one would rarely find in the rest of Big4 advisory work
@D1 that's what I've heard too
That is true. When I was at Deloitte I hated the prd stuff and yes the culture is more competitive. But if the choice was between Accenture strategy (with EYs advantages) and S&O, we could possibly debate on why the compromise on brand may be worth it. But the strat practice at EY is no where in sight. In that point of view I feel this is an easy choice. But I respect your view EY1 :) Gluck OP, at the end of the day it's still a win win.
I was in the same boat 2 years ago, although my Deloitte $$ was lesser and I was offered a different practice in EY than Strat / Custo. I picked EY because I had a really bad experience at Deloitte as an intern and the D vs E was 105k vs 135k. Having said that, EY Strategy and Customer practice has very little work going around, and you will be scrambling for utilization. $120k is pretty good, I would say Deloitte in this case.
I see a lot of hating against EY here lol. The people are great, everyone is smart AF and definitely not true the second tier school bs and poor pipeline nonsense. I myself I'm tier 1 school and have plenty of great work to do at the firm
ACN salted bc they work at an IT services firm. Jk ACN1 don't get heated
OP- I am an experienced hire and that has been my experience and is prob why EY is offering her mor e
Straps her down how? And starting with higher money is always preferable.
OP- tons of examples. I know for a fact that campus hires come in at a higher salary. You have a higher status within the firm bc it seems like you are more "desirable" bc you are from a "strategic school" and made it through a competitive hiring process. She should see if D can hire her as a campus hire since EY is. The list goes on
I'm on a Strategy project right now for one of the largest companies in the world and the work is absolutely amazing and exhilarating. For EY, it's all going to be about who you know when you join because your experience can be awful or amazing depending on project placement.
AC1 no idea what ur talking about. People move around in the big 4 everyday. That Wharton grad probably has worked at a few of the 4 themselves...
I'd also point out if she were on FB and saw this thread she would take me to the cleaners :) a loyal cookie this one..
what's prd #noob
@A2 Deloitte isn't recruiting directly from her part-time MBA program which is why she had to apply as an experienced hire, but because she doesn't have enough relevant experience, they bucketed her at the consultant level. EY on the other hand is treating her like a campus hire and still offering the SC level regardless of experience
@D1 any chance you could provide specific examples of your experience with campus hires being treated better? Is it because they have a better support network / strong start class coming in?
@EY3 you're not in PAS, are you?
EY is new to the business. I work at EY and say I would buy D first...
