I’ve been trying to get into the top tier Associate Product Marketing Manager position Google for some time now for just an interview and I feel like business majors somehow have such a stronger chance in getting interviewed especially my business school and I feel really discouraged as an Econ Major and I have a lot of marketing experience that I’ve built over the years. Are there any non-business majors in the tech realm in non technical positions at Google that can advise me?
Cleared Accenture Skill interview by answering almost all the questions and received congratulatory mail for HR round and submitting all documents. Then after a week received a call from HR saying that due to some technical issue, the skills round will happen again and an online assessment was set up. In the assessment, questions which were not directly related to the profile were asked and then a rejection mail was received. Does this happen a lot?

That's likely just the market in action. There aren't enough openings for all the people looking for work, and layoffs keep continuing. That tends to drive down salaries. Companies can make low offers, and someone will accept it. Over time that can reset the market bands.

I’ve genuinely been considering a pivot out just because of this. It’s not just the salary. It’s the unicorn candidates they want to have. My portfolio is decent, but nowhere near what they are trying to get right now, and it’s demoralizing to say the least.
Yes and yes AE1 nailed it. Basically companies have their pick of candidates and are taking advantage of desperate people
Layoffs across industries have been stacking since 22. And it’s become normal for companies to layoff workers at EOY to inflate/create fake profits. So more and more candidates are in the pool and now 6 months is the average of finding a job. Most people can’t survive that and are taking whatever they can get
It is honestly so sad. Some of my friends have had to take entry level roles just to land something. And even "entry" level roles expect you to come with a decade of experience.
