I’m confused why the gender matters.
I can here to say exactly this
Mentor
Even if the roles were reversed, I’d really wonder about the context.
The problem is that it will be taken out of context and probably head towards a hostile working environment. But that is definitely a story that will be shared around the business.
It will be interesting to hear how this plays out if the male friend is frozen out, cfo becomes the person to be feared, or the complete opposite.
CFOs are somewhat hard to replace… so it will be interesting how the upper leadership handles this.
Depends on what he said or did to illicit that response. Was he being racist, sexist, demanding, abusive? Bullying someone at the event? Making inappropriate jokes? Also depends on their company/team culture. Some teams use profanity more casually than others.
The language the CFO used is potentially too strong for a business environment. The messaging may well have been entirely justified.

Yeah… what did he do to illicit the response? Sounds like you are interested in villainizing the woman w/o cause. Never seen that before! 🙄
If she said it, she probably had a *very* good reason. Imagine being in her shoes - the amount of misogynistic, scheming men nipping at her heels to undermine and oust her bc they hate women (and all too often the women also hate other women).
How is one comment creating a hostile working environment? Context absolutely matters. Seems like you think the only thing that matters here is that there’s a woman in power, and you don’t like it.
How is it a hostile work environment?
Wait, seriously? You don’t think calling someone a f*c*ing a$$h@le is hostile?
