I would say no considering that we all have families we want to make time for, but I do understand some companies require you to work some holidays and alternate every year (never works out exactly like that though).
Speaking for myself at this point, I tend to work every holiday I can possibly pick up for the extra money and because I have no spouse/kids keeping me from doing so.
Hmm not necessarily. Wanting some Holiday time off is normal, but not wanting to work every holiday can be seen as problematic, mainly because your peers prefer time off as well. Most managers rotate holiday schedules anyways.
In culinary fields where holidays are important. Meaning that in high demand fields, where the company becomes busier during peek season you need to know that is part of it the job . You make compromises re-arrange faimly trips to fall on off peak seasons. Worked Golf Courses most of my life so from kids birthdays to marriage +anniversary was all scheduled around time I new I could be off. Work hard get paid well so you can enjoy does day off. But let me add this. Let it be know up front that compensation need to reflect the days I can't spend with my faimly.

I think you could be honest and say you’d prefer some time off, but you are willing to compromise and work on some holidays, with having a specific holiday as your preferred holiday off. Most companies will compromise with management and give them their preferred holiday off, as long as they work the others.
