Just say she bought it and parents helped with that down payment.. Why is this even a convo?
My rich colleague was an international student and his parents asked him how much can buy him a partnership in the firm so that he doesn't need to work overtime anymore
Or is it better to be upfront about it to avoid awkward convos later at work?
My manager got jealous about me buying single family house in a big city but he can only afford a townhouse in middle of no where in Florida. So better not mention it to jealous type supervisors
I wouldn't lie but I tend to avoid the topic. I am from a decently wealthy family and people just assume I get hand outs. #richpeopleproblems
I was able to stay at home during uni so I saved a lot of money but I have also been shrewd with my investments and made quite a bit on real estate and stocks. People always comment on my cars (not that special...but I guess it's too expensive for a new grad or junior people) but I actually earned my own money to buy them. My first paycheck working at a McDonald's and paid my own tuition using paid internships.
Without the price tag I don't see it as a huge issue. I'll respond to rent questions with my combined mortgage/tax/HOA amount without feeling the need to clarify that I bought but I won't hide that I bought if asked directly
lie. gotta keep those gold diggers away!
What city? 2 mil for a condo gets your ocean front in LA with a bomb view
AC1 agreed.
I put about 50% down on a $600k townhouse with family money. I don't bring it up, and am very vague about my living situation. Most people just assume I rent.
Yeah, this is a boundary thing. It is nobody's business. She could always say- I own, but I got a great deal! The end and then change subject. That's how I play those things. Not saying that it is fool proof, but it is my strategy. Still awkward though.
Vice Principals, anyone?
